I remember the first time I got my first didgeridoo, I bought it off someone in Sausalito, California and immediately went over to the Marin Headlands WWII military bunkers / missile base. I was so excited, I took in a deep breath and blew into my newly acquired Australian made didgeridoo. The first sound that came out was of a very distressed Moose, no matter how much I tried it was the same sound. I laughed all the way home. To people who are starting out, do not be discouraged, if I was able to learn, anyone can play the didgeridoo. Remember it's all about the journey, and I'm love my didge, now I sound like a Very Happy Moose! LOL!!

Great tip, I used the straw method into a cup of water for the first few tries, on the same day did the farty noises while breathing in thru the nose, from there it was simple to take to the first didge I got gifted, a High B, 60cm yadaki? One slight problem is, that I learnt to push the air out using my cheeks as opposed to my tongue... Infact it's abit of both, but the breathwood guy who taught it that way says the tongue and throat muscles take over with time. Since I promised myself once I could circular breath I'd get a better didge... I got lucky and managed to buy an old authentic red eucalyptus didge brought back from its motherland, said didge is inbetween a D and D#, infact you can play it either depending on lip technique. Named him big black Barry or big baz for short as only the black undercoat is mainly visable, being old alot of the aboriginal style paint has worn off. Got it soo cheap, literally pocket change almost. Being a wide bore it's not so easy accessing the toots compared to the pvc fiberglass trombone meinl 'didge' I bought for 6 times the price! Looking to up my game and get one with a wooden mouthpiece next, as using beeswax can get abit sticky, especially when half of it sticks to facial hair lol. Really appreciate your free teachings on here Du! I am going to take a look at your didgeridoos you have for sale... once I have saved for a didge around C or B, with a wooden mouthpiece I will be looking into contacting you for one to one lessons if you do them! Learnt alot from you. Many blessings and good vibes for now! Namaskar 🙏🏼 ✌🏼 ❤️

Five years after learning to circular breathe I still do this exercise to check my lip control. Can I hit the spot on the wall I'm aiming for? Can I choose the volume of the stream and maintain it? Etc.

My personal quantum state transition from not being able to breath to getting it work dirtily involved a cheap didge (PVC sewage pipe), a bottle of wine and a bonfire. I also put the wine in my mouth .. but I swallowed. And just kept trying. Sped up the break I initially had between drones. Tried quicker and quicker and then when the wine worked, I stopped thinking and it just happened. Now I understand that is not a good pedagogic and systematic way to approach the subject but hey you might try it and if it doesn't work you sat at a bonfire and drank a bottle of wine, what could be wrong with that?!
