So that’s...13 abused elephants? And the horses are probably cramped in those two box cars there are dozens of horses there. And if jumbo weighs as much as four horses she needs *way* more food than that all four if my horses eat four/five hay bales a day. And you can clearly see the trainers using bull-hooks just to get them to lay down.

Those elephants looked magnificent! They were happily wagging their tails and were very well taken care of. It is not so much the size of an animal that determines its caloric needs, but its metabolism. Elephants normally have a very low metabolism, but as stated when working the diet was doubled. Obese animals are also unhealthy. Elephants are trained with bull hooks the same as horses are trained with whips and dogs with leashes. Just because the trainer has one, doesn't mean he is using it in an aggressive way. In fact you can see here the trainers just giving little nudges to certain parts of the body to direct the elephant. In the last circus train they put four elephants to a special carrying car, which was 89' long and about 7' wide. That is 156 sq ft per animal. They also stopped periodically to get the large animals out to let them walk around, and in summer the local fire departments would come out to hose them down--they loved it!!! So did the locals watching them frolic. You have no right to judge them just from watching this short film, in fact the evidence of the film shows how prejudiced, unjust, biased, hateful and harmful your ideas are.

@@JJosephS1 Elephants can wag their tails if happy, but it's mainly to swish away flies. And the bull hook is still sharp. If he used it for humane intentions, then why are those sharp hooks there in the first place? Oh yes, to attack the elephant. Just because the elephant is big, doesn't mean they can't feel the pain. It seems like you're trying to refer to them like objects that can't feel there. And there wasn't clear, good evidence in this film to show that the elephants aren't abused. They are poked with sharp objects, forced to perform, and are put into tight cages day after day. They need a field to play in. And don't get that. And this was when the circus abuse was definitely rampant. So there's a good chance they were lying, or naive. It's 2021, and many of the animal circuses are being shut down. So it's time to get out of the 1900s. Look at good sources that tell you more about circus abuse. But definitely don't trust Peta. They tend to exaggerate things.

HEY GR Look closely: the horse rears up to avoid the trainer's whip; the elephant "listens" to his trainer, who just happens to be directing the animal with a prodding pole to which a metal hook is attached. Sure, they were groomed, fed and "clothed" for the show. What you don't see, is the training regimen. Circuses are and have always been a venue that hides animal cruelty for the sake of entertaining people like you. You need a reality check.

Peta are running a petition to ask france to ban the use of wild animals in the circus where it is still legal. You could find and sign that, would hopefully save more animals from exploitation.
