Eine lange Tradition
Der Circus Renz besteht seit 1842. Damals hatte Ernst Jakob Renz sein Unternehmen unter dem Namen Circus Olympic gegründet. Der Zirkus reiste damals noch nicht, sondern hatte feste Bauten in Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Breslau und Wien. Die Geschichte des Circus Renz wurde 1943 sogar für das Kino verfilmt.
Heute gibt es in Deutschland mehrere Zirkusunternehmen dieses Familiennamens, die alle ihre Tradition auf ihren direkten Vorfahren Ernst Jakob Renz gründen. Zu den großen Zirkus-Unternehmen gehören der Circus Universal Renz und der Circus-Renz-Berlin sowie den Circus Herman Renz in den Niederlanden. Der Circus Karlheinz Renz ist eines der kleinen Unternehmen, die von Stadt zu Stadt ziehen.
Ernst Jakob Renz (* 18. Mai 1815 in Böckingen bei Heilbronn; † 3. April 1892 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Zirkusdirektor und Artist.

The color scheme (Yellow, Blue, Red) dates back at least a 100 years.
Music
Gustav Peter is the composer of the widely popular piece of music Memory of Circus Renz that was published in 1894 with the original title Souvenir de Cirque Renz. Its musical form is a Galop and primarily it was written for xylophone, but later adapted to various kinds of instruments. It is one of the best-known examples of circus music.
