Years ago I met an Egyptian in Saudi Arabia, he hated me as soon as he knew I was from Yemen. I didn't get it. Later, I was told he lost uncles and a cousin in Yemen war. I didn't do anything about it I thought it was his problem not mine. I was too young and proud but today I will. I have had this song for about two years and I listen to it a lot. Such a beautiful voice, music and heart touching notes. Since I heard it I fell in love with Turkish music.

After searching I found this post and I started reading every single post, (thank you to every one who posted a translation of it) When I read the words I couldn't stop the tears. This song has many verses AND versions; this version however goes like this: 1- Yemen your desert is from sand, what did you want from my child. I can't find the path to your roads, I miss my child, Yemen 2- Oh Yemen, damned Yemen, nightingales wont sing (songbird), my rose is grass (The soldiers would send flowers/roses in theire letters to theire families in Turkey, since there werent any flowers to send in the desert, they sent grass instead; therefor "my rose is grass")
