CIRNECO DEL 'ETTNA THE RABBIT HUNTER

The Cirneco dell’Etna (Pronounced “cheer-NECK-oh del et-na”) is a purebred dog from the island of Sicily. Gentle, alert, and independent, these pups have some of the best traits of any dog breed around today.
Cirneco dell’Etnas go by many other names, including Cirneco, Sicilian Hound, Sicilian Greyhound, Sicilian Rabbit Hound, and Sicilian Rabbit Dog. These dogs can make great pets and show dogs, and you may find them at local shelters or rescues. Remember, it’s always better to adopt and not shop!

As a former Pharaoh Hound owner, and current retired Greyhound and Cirneco owner, I can say that these doggos are super fun with very high energy levels. They love to run, chase squirrels and also cuddle inside. Not as independent as a Pharaoh Hound, but definitely have high prey drive and are a lot of fun.

Talked to many experts/ breeders and just overall knowledgable individuals and they tell me the Cirnecos are hands down the most underrated dog breed on the planet and top 3 breeds overall.

Really nice dogs, and underrated. A lot of people don't want to hear this but if I ever fulfill my plan of breeding a lineage of small, natural-looking companion dogs, I would use at least one of these for their size, shape, temperament and health.

Etna is not an island, it is a volcano. The dogs originated on the island of Sicily.

Azawakh is one of the few sighthound breeds with guarding tendencies another with the same guarding tendencies is the chart polski(polish greyhound) which is closely related to the saluki and the sloughi

Until you look closely. The tail is different, the ears are set on the head differently and when you watch their movement, the Cirneci use less shoulder pull.

Island off Sicily called etna? The hell is she talking about. Etna is the volcano in Sicily. Ibiza, where the Ibizan hound is thought to of originated from is actually an island out near Spain. She should just look at a map before she says random shit about dogs.

In the US it’s not legal in many places to hunt rabbit with dogs so we focus more on the confirmation side (looks) of the dogs aswell as health and temperament aswell but in other countries such as Spain they do still hunt

Where hunting this way is not legal, there is always lure coursing, a popular sport for sighthounds where they get to use their talents. I think it's sad when a breed is reduced to what it looks like in the ring.
