One time kayaking great and friend, Dr. Walt Blackadar died by drowning after getting his kayak but not himself under a log that crossed the channel he paddled on the South Fork of the Payette river in Idaho. Please think about places where the forest cover borders the rivers you paddle and scout ahead for trees blocking your route.
