My biggest issue with CS2 is that it feels like they knew what issues it has and went out of their way to advertise otherwise.. All the emphasis they put on improved lane changing AI, only to find out that its currently worse if anything. The videos going into such detail of resource management, only to find out that all those features are broken and all the data associated with it is either wrong or simply made up to look more complex.. After seeing all of the biggest issues the game launched with, it seems that every bug just happened to have an entire dev diary talking about how great that feature is... Its very suspicious if you ask me and feels a bit intentional. If you were to remove each bugged feature from their trailer, there wouldn't have been anything left to advertise their game with.

Traffic AI? Idk from what I've seen it looks like a massive overhaul and improvement in that department.

They did mention that there were performance issues back on October 26, 2023 in a press release.. They are working on the game's issues and they also made the following statements, "'We want to assure you that the issues are not deeply rooted in the game’s foundation'" "We will continually improve the game over the coming months, but we also want to manage expectations on performance for the coming release.".Cities I was also a WIP but I think they should have held out and worked on Cities II to make the game more playable. Then they could have had a first a pre-Thanksgiving November release (Nov 1- 20th ish). The game hasn't given me any major issues since the first patch. It did randomly quit on me the first couple of times I played shortly after release. I'm sure these issues will be but a memory mid-next year.

Mmm saying that traffic and lane changing A is worse than CS1 is just false, the way traffic behaves and spreads around the cities is way better than it was in CS1, the way Cims behave in streets is even related to their education level. I have created several cities so far and it's really good to know that making decisions that seems "logic" has an effect in game that is close to what would happen in our world. Now, it is true that cims do stupid stuff and that it is completely related to the game having bugs, I'm not going to deny that, but stating that traffic AI is worse in CS2 is just spreading missinformation, specially when we still do not know the AI completely. 😀

I will say, this game would benefit from a "Selling Permissions" tool where you can define what type of goods can be sold in certain districts. Like sometimes, even when you have a huge deficit of a good and you set up really low taxes for specific businesses, Cims openning a store will still follow their preferences over anything and start selling that specific freaking good that has almost no demand. I really hope this comes with an update.

As far as the university goes I was not sure how it worked when I first built it but I figured the zoning would be similar to real life so I planned around that. That being that I placed a good mix of zoning types around my university area. Firstly a lot of highly paid individuals live and work in university areas both for the university and for near by offices. I thus built an area of low density residential for the very wealthy like the people running the universe and the local businesses. I then placed some town home buildings down that I figured all the staff and the higher class students would use. Then was the mixed use and mid rises for the general student body along with some low rent housing. The mix has worked pretty well and I feel is pretty close to real life. I even placed 1 big high rise residential to be in the office area that turned into a large office skyscraper complex behind the university.

I couldn't look past 5-10 fps... not to mention the "simulation speed" - it is unplayable on a PC that could run CS1 with all dlc + mods ( which was a lot better and smoother experience ) Let's hope they fix the performance issues and bugs

The tutorials are a nice change but they're easy to miss and I'm using a lot of my cs1 knowledge. This game would benefit from a guided tutorial with scenarios or even a campaign that walks you through the progression and helps you make overall infrastructure choices, I think

How in the world did you build an electricity transformer, without a road? @9:10

You turn of the „snapping to road“ option, you find that option in the down left corner when selecting the transformer.

College and University students do not inherently demand town homes! In fact, because they're usually single person households they will prefer medium and high density residential. Also there is a separate income/wealth calculation, you just can't tax citizens based off of it (and you can incentivize people to go to college/university by lowering the lower brackets of taxes so that uneducated cims have the extra disposable income to quit their jobs and go to school).

I don't really have a big issue with CS2. As long as you do not try to point out the bugs, you can enjoy the game like it was made with a 1 billion dollar budget. The only thing that really bugs me is the citizens. It looks like a woman has a beard and a man has really long hair for some models.

Your thoughts reflect mine. Though the game has it bugs, it is still playable. You just have to observe and figure things out yourself rather than rely on the data provided. For instance, I have perfect police coverage, no criminals and no crime but residents are complaining about high crime rates. It looks like their complaints take priority. Feelings over facts.

I think you are correct in saying the game should level up by population. That's how it worked in City Skylines 1 and it was great. Not sure why they changed it, seems stupid.
@magnushmann Жыл бұрын
the reason is to be able to cultivate a smaller city, while still unlocking things. Instead of always forcing you to just expand and expand, the game gives you a few different ways to earn XP and unlock new items. Population itself still does give quite a bit of XP in itself though. And the way you can easily cheat the system is quite silly, but oh well.
@Dittozz Жыл бұрын
@@magnushmann you guys are probably both correct. I would say a hybrid system could work. Meaning things unlock after "X amount of XP" + "Minimum Population". So they can control the curve better
@udishomer5852 Жыл бұрын
@@magnushmann Well it makes no sense to have a university, metro and hospitals in a city of 10k people. Same with skyscrapers. I know its a game but if the realism is gone I lose interest.
@magnushmann Жыл бұрын
@@udishomer5852 You don't have to make a realistic city in this game. And now they give you even more options for what you can do, while still having a progression tree (as opposed to just unlocking everything from the start, which is what you kinda had to do in the last game).
@magnushmann Жыл бұрын
@@Dittozz The issue is that you then basically run into to the same issue. It currently is basically a hybrid system, since population growth (at least supposedly) is one of the main consistent streams om XP, however, if you don't want to focus so much on that, you can in fact play a really long game of getting XP in other ways while still being able to periodically unlock new stuff. Not saying it's perfect by any means, but I do get the intention behind it, even if it's way too easily cheated, which is very silly.
