In reality fires would start before impact from heat coming from enormous flying mass nearby. Also homes and people would been damaged due to sonic boom. I see no earthquakes and secondary fires started from reentry of superheated stones too. Badass fishing guys on pier doesn't give a f*ck about what is happening around. Weight of their balls keep them in place :) The rest of city is like - we got minor tsunami accident. Should we worry... naah.
