Btw has the Gov't there tried to modernize them? In my city, they launched a program called "jak-lingko" which is like the Beep card but you can get free transfers to specially branded minivans and they don't stop anywhere

Yes, but it will take a while before we fully modernized.. There are already some parts of the country that are using electric jeepneys and they do have card systems.

Perhaps, if Manila wasn't destroyed during WW2, Jeepneys might not exist today. Yet, back then before the war, MERALCO had already introduced the Auto Calesa, a prototype Jeepney or somesort.

A lot of great things were happening before WW2. The infrastractures, the Tranvia, all but gone to waste. I keep saying this but we shouldn't blame the war for being a "dugyot" country the we've become. The war was inevitable. It's been almost 80 years since the war ended, that should have been a lot of time to get back on our feet. Seoul was obliterated in 1953 but look at where they are at now. The problem was our people. People got greedy. But I had'nt lose hope. Like I said, change is coming.
