Awesome story! Years ago I worked the night shift at a gas station in New Haven, CT and was held up at gunpoint. The perp and his crew screeched out of the parking lot with their lights off at just the right moment as the police officer I had befriended and ALWAYS gave free coffee to had just started his shift (11pm to 7am) and was heading in for his coffee THAT NIGHT and saw the vehicle tearing off with its lights off and followed them. Long story short, the crooks were ALL caught and arrested within 15 minutes of the crime! I didn't really believe it when the 911 operator said they had caught them while I was making the initial call to report the crime and you can imagine my surprise and disbelief. I mean, that just never happens! The police never catch the perps within minutes of the crime and while it is being reported to the 911 operator! The 911 operator couldn't believe it either and even said it was a miracle and that "Someone was watching over you" that night.

Petraone No Matter, it was a blessing to read. I love to hear people’s stories of God’s intervention, and I happened to have a leisurely Sunday afternoon to enjoy it. Thanks to KZbin, I was notified of your response. I believe God is interested in the details of our lives and loves it when we share that “Someone” was looking out for us. I just recently had one or two of these episodes recommended to me and have enjoyed watching several of them, along with reading other stories in the comments, as people’s memories are triggered. I know how much time it takes to write up those memories and sometimes I am prompted to share my appreciation with more than a “like.” 😊

I came home in Oakland many years ago to my front door open and a cop car in the middle of tje street. They had two young men arrested for breaking into my house in their car with my stuff in they're pockets. Nothing like the time these kids had to destroy the house but them getting caught felt good.

As a prison chaplain, I have never "approved" a crime, but I have learned to understand the person who commits crimes. What happened to the boys that led them at such a young age to break and enter? What happened to them after their arrest? How did God's love become part of them after that? I am happy for the family, but I also grieve for the tragic life those two young teenagers must have had.

Bbss Bsbsb I get what you’re saying. Obviously if they had a good upbringing, this most likely wouldn’t have happened. _However,_ the fact is they broke the law, ransacking a families home, stealing from it and damaging their vehicle and other property, as well as causing an entire family to have their sense of security shaken for God knows how long. Having your home broken into is a direct “assault” against that sense of security. Your home is your castle, the _one place_ you’re _suppose_ to feel the safest. After a home invasion, that security is stolen from you in ways you can’t even imagine. Everything considered, it’s sad they didn’t receive the help they needed prior to this crime. However, they still *did* commit a crime, making them criminals. Hopefully after this happened they finally received the help they obviously needed in order to become productive members of society.

@ORSkie4 жыл бұрын
I hear what you're saying and I get how you feel; life is not fair and it can make a person feel left out, or even cursed or rejected, when better outcomes happen to other people. I think the thoughts that help me the most to accept when bad things happen are to remember that we are in a fallen world. Sometimes troubles beset us from choices we've made. Other times it has nothing to do with our choices but the choices of others or circumstances considered to be acts of God. However, if nothing bad ever happened, we would already be in heaven, not this fallen, sinful prequel. We wouldn't necessarily appreciate all the blessings that we *do* have (without bad, what is good?) nor would we necessarily have a felt need for God. Troubles can drive us to look for solutions. Jesus told us that in this world we *will* have trouble - it's not a maybe:- but that He has also overcome the world - so that can offer hope and encouragement to us as we go through difficult / tragic times. Also, God allows various things to occur with different people because troubles are used to shape us into who He wants us to become ("Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.…" Rom 5:3-5) AND for the purpose(s) for which we have been created ("For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Eph 2:8-10). We are each created uniquely, so different circumstances are required to form us - as He says, He is the Potter, we are the clay. Since we're not cookie cutter people; we are all given different traits, purposes, and the individual stories - both good and bad - which form us. I'm not saying it's always easy to accept, but these are some thoughts that encourage me when I remind myself of them. "But Job replied, “... Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong." (Job 2:10) May you be comforted by God, and encouraged to continue to run the race that is set before us.

Perfect example of why our gun rights are necessary. If the Dad would've had a pistol on his hip, he wouldn't have had to worry as much about whether or not the kids had a weapon. And concealed would've made it even better for him. To an innocent, good citizen, that has had the correct training, there's no better peace of mind, other than soul salvation through Jesus Christ, than to know you're protected and that you can protect others also. But training and a lot of practice is an absolute Must!
