I don't understand how people can say we have free will while also saying that God has a great master plan. How could things be planned out if we're free to do what we wish? Unless, of course, what we do is inconsequential to God's master plan, in which case, why does God's plan require our suffering? You said during your "ICU" reaction that prayers don't go unanswered, no is simply an answer. But how do you reconcile that with the idea that any and all suffering is caused by our free will? The refusal to stop suffering is condoning said suffering, at least when you have the power to stop said suffering. If God's too weak to prevent that suffering, then it makes sense, but then why should I pray to him? What makes free will so great if suffering is the consequence? I'd prefer to have no free will if it means no suffering. Which would be the case, as all suffering is allegedly caused by free will. I also don't understand when people say "true love" has to be a choice. I can't begin to comprehend what that means. I've never chosen to like somebody, let alone love somebody. I never chose to love my mother, I just do. In fact, it seems to me like the most meaningful type of love (if there are two types), would be love that you have not chosen, because then there's a reason for that love and you're not just randomly deciding.

I’m not great at explaining this but the way I understand it is that God’s plan was that Jesus would be born, live perfectly, die in our place and rise again. His grand plan is not like you’d see in a movie, he didn’t plan out every single thing for every single person. The Calvinists think he did but he didn’t. God could come in and decide enough is enough and no one will ever suffer but he chose to let us walk our own paths. And yeah it sucks that because of our individual decisions most people are going to suffer through something at one point or another. Again, I’m not good at explaining but this is the best I can do. If you want, there are plenty of pastors like Billy Graham who are MUCH better at this than I am.

The way I have learned is God’s plan is a path you can take. Free will is the ability to walk that path. A path is a direction you walk. God’s path is what He wants you to choose. The word “plan” is more a general idea of what He wants for your life overall. In the Bible multiple times it shows God giving a choice. In the very beginning it talks about the biggest choice of all. Eve CHOSE to go against God. I used to be so skeptical of God. But when He revealed Himself to me He helped me understand the questions I’ve had. God has helped me understand that His “plan” is a path not a step by step.

@@BNWaut16 If God's plan is so good, then I see no reason there should be an option not to take it. If God is all good and all powerful, then no evil should ever be allowed, and consequently, we should all walk his path. I don't see what's so good about the ability to choose not to walk God's path if it is truly best

@@jessekwb5035 Ok, let’s say there is no option to take a path that is not His. If we are forced to follow Him how can He truly guide us? How can there be love? If there is no choice in this world and we are just puppets how can we grow as human beings. My point being without free will to choose all life would be is evil. Evil-noun-profound immorality and wickedness, especially when regarded as a supernatural force. (Pasted from google.) Good-noun-that which is morally right; righteousness. (Pasted from google.) So using those definitions in this scenario of no option but to follow Him, wouldn’t you say that there is no love aka hate? Love has to be a choice. The people in your life that hurt you are they people that you choose to be kind to or are you quick to get angry? Really think about how you treat the people in your life. If you were forced to be kind how is it kindness? The truth is a path of no choice is only one made absent of good. There is no peace. No trust. No hope. No strength. For all these things have to have choice. There can’t be any good in a place of no choice. Does that make sense?

I've been able to relate to "am I a failure or did you just set me up to fail" several times in the past but I always have to remind myself that I have my own free will and instead of blaming God for my issues I can try to spin them in a way that glorifies him. I've struggled with mental health a whole lot in my life and recently got hired as a song writer for a good friend and artist I know. I'm using my past struggles with mental health to write music that might help people with their own. Amazing reaction!
