Quality over quantity. Never buy multiple games at once and keep my backlog as small as possible. Wait on games and get them for a fraction of the price.

I use the minimalist way. I only buy the game that i absolutely LOVE!!!! The games i played ten thousand times and still enjoy as if it was day one! The games that i can't help smiling at and want to play with EVERY time i walk pass them on the shelves even after decades! (Super Mario Land on GB, Kirby or Gun-Nac on FC, Star Parodier on PCE CD etc...) I use the same Minimalist Methodology with vinyl. Instead of hundreds or thousands i have about 30 of each. Cost less, I play them constantly and it is easier when you move out. ^____^

The power of writing down stuff and making lists. I definitely do that for my collection.

Great talk! I am fairly particular about what I buy, but I'm also in a habit of regularly assessing what I want to keep. My tastes do change to some extent, so I sell off stuff that doesn't fit my current "policy," as you say.

I spoke about this with a friend of mine. My policy is now collect for what I play the most. Ps4 - This is my most used console so games the come out on ps4/xb1/switch are bought on ps4. There are a couple of exceptions. Shenmue was bought on both but as a Shenmue fan, I have my xb1 version put away. Xbsx - games that come out on xbsx and ps5 will be bought on xbsx. When I get a PS5 it will be used more for exclusives. Switch. Only games I can't get physically on either ps4 or xbox. An exception was Flashback as that was given to me and Night trap. I wanted the ps4 version but missed it so bought it on Switch. My games on Switch are mainly Mario. Xb360 and og xbox. Mainly, I only buy games that I can play on my xbsx. There are a few exceptions like Castlevania Curse of Darkness and crazy taxi 3, but for the most part, that is how I buy those titles. Dreamcast - Games I can only get on Dreamcast Gamecube - Same as Dreamcast. Only exclusive titles that I want to play. Ps3 - games that are not backwards compatible with the xbsx and exclusives. Older systems like SNES, NES and Mega drive (Genesis) played via compilation discs or emulation on the mini systems now. It's a lot easier and allows me to focus on other games I want to play. Also, it let's me play those harder titles to find without paying £100's and having to find a way to connect them to a new TV and saves storage space etc.
