Yeah, when I told my granny it would be better to be dead, her reaction was "Yeah, sure, just make more worrents with your funeral." I was speachless, she was serious. She was more concerned about money and what would people say than my mental health... So I know how it feels.

My sister said the same thing..that suicide is selfish. I really started thinking about how she felt. It is very hard when you feel this way. However, there is tons of free and low cost help out there. I did realize it is selfish because you are just thinking of you, not anyone else that may love or care about you and how upsetting it would be for them. It literally crushes the hearts of loved ones. No one is better off without you.

I think people like this are the selfish ones for expecting someone to be happy and if the person is confident to tell their family this and this is thier response they are the selfish ones for helping the family member with suicidal thoughts

I think most of us who listen to Citizen Soldier can feel this on a VISCERAL level. I know I've had my fair share of "selfish a**hole" comments directed my way. I am blessed to have a great support network, good friends, and AMAZING kids who remind me why I stick around, and, in the case of my daughter, will call me on my bullshit and tell me that if I WERE to go through with it, she'll go full-on "Sith Lord" and bring me back so she can kill me herself. 😂 I really LOVE that girl...

I actually survived a house fire in 2021 and lost everything including my two cats who were my best friends and ever since then so much just kept piling on and my mental health declined and then I found Citizen Soldier and they helped me see I wasn't alone in the pain and in my therapy I found refugee through music someone out there could actually understand that pain so thank you CS for doing what you do. Love your music!❤️ I've been following it for years and it has helped me lots! By allowing me to let out my emotions and cry or even by reminding me that everything has a chance to get better. I've lost a lot of close friends and some family to Suicide. I myself had 9 attempts and somehow always woke up the next day, sometimes in the hospital and other times... Just random places and hurting terribly. I have been sober from my heavy Whiskey Drinking since 2018. I wanted to be heard, not to be fixed. my friend heard me in the end... he heard the sound of the metal, the lever and the hammer pulling back. He saved me and I have him to thank. I wish I could still thank him, sadly he passed just last year. He told me to find my Sunshine. Between his words, your music and the little family I have made since 2018... I feel more complete and keep pushing for better, sadly sometimes memories/nightmares get to me still... But in the end it is just reminders for what has MADE me into who I am to this day. Proud Dad of 2 kids now and hopefully I am good Husband to my wife❤️ I was Lost... But my wife found me and my family saved me❤️ I wish all the best for your Band, supporters and people just finding their way to the music now. If something bad is caused by emotions, it triggers bad emotions so to counter act that you need something to trigger happy emotions (family, friends, pets, hobbies) . And if its caused by humans you need good human actions to counter act that (showing love, comfort and understanding). Any problem has a remedy but it's only when you lose the last bit of hope and the true you, that you lose everything.

Gadzooks, this hits so hard on two fronts. I’m seriously crying over here. Your songs are always amazing. Not only do I suffer from my own mental health illnesses,but back in 2019 I lost my husband when he suddenly took his own life. And while I to some degree understand why/at least what was part of the root cause (dentist had cracked his face clear up to his eye socket and on top of this he was also having to get off of a migraine drug which often had already caused him to hallucinate, intense vomiting, etc) but the two of those things then crossing? Yeah I understand how it led to such a sudden move. And that it wasn’t the man I love who truly in that moment made that choice. And I don’t judge him for it most days either, I just wish that either he was still in my life, or that I upon coming back into the room had joined him. I miss you my love. Always. And for anyone who reads this and is at a low point: I know it’s hard, but there are things & people who are worth living for. And even if you don’t think you are, you are loved by someone(s). Just keep trying, even if you have to take it one day at a time.

I've been waiting for my signal to stabilize enough and I'm now crying at 430 am. This hits so hard because I had to let go.....to fly. I had no idea what that darkness was below. I could hear the waves loud as a marching band when I broke down to my doctor and begged for help despite fear of having further humiliation at the hands of so called "professionals" that did nothing more than give me 99 reasons to not be cared for until I was so broken, that I sobbed for 40 mins in my doctor's office. It does get better, it is hella hard I won't lie, but it does get better. That was 5 and a half years ago. I'm doing much better now. Still rocky at times, but the best beaches require a little effort to get to.

@@hiroshima9219 I've unfortunately been self-harming for a while now and I've found that citizen soldier has helped massively with accepting that this for now is apart of me and has helped get rid of my anger towards myself. It's good to hear you haven't harmed yourself (it's very addictive) I don't really know what to say as comfort 'cause anything I do say will make me seem like a hypocrite but if you wanna talk I don't mind keeping the comments going :) you're not alone with feeling like everything is to much, I definitely do relate to what you said what's the point? My reason to continue is my dog, she's been by myself for five years and has helped heal something inside me. I don't feel as lonely and definitely couldn't just abandoned her after all I've put her through (homelessness etc) you do have a pet? :)

I feels like no one around me believes I'm suffering. I was abused my whole childhood and people at school made fun of me. I was always alone. I tried telling others..but They all tell me it's fake or they ignore it..I tried to commit you know what..and was told it was just for attention... The worst part is I wasn't taught to hide it.. I had to teach myself to.. and it's getting too heavy. I just wish I could see that others care, even if they don't know me but I don't ask.
