Thats awesome. We have a 1921 Benz 16/50 Sport Roadster and it always creaks when shifting
@oldtimerwerkstatt10682 жыл бұрын
Gear shifting on a unsynchronised gear box must always be done by "double de-clutching". Don't add gas when shifting upwards, but rev up the engine (and the gearbox) in the pause between the double de-clutching when shifting downwards. If you send me an e-mail (via website oldtimer-taxi.ch), I'll send you two short films. The process is graphically explained also in my book www.oldtimer-taxi.ch/RepbrochureE/RepbrochureE.php

@@oldtimerwerkstatt1068 Hey, thanks for the answer. I already know how double clutching works because my dad already explained it in detail but I never did it. Im not driving the car yet because im 17 years old but i want to learn it soon. My dad sometimes drives the car and he is actually good at double-clutching, but at the Benz it seems to be very difficult. Maybe i take a look at the videos soon. By the way, I see you are from Switzerland, do you speak german by any chance?
@oldtimerwerkstatt10682 жыл бұрын
Man bekommt so Routine. Und ein synchronisiertes Getriebe verzeiht Fehler...
@Simon_r26002 жыл бұрын
@oldtimerwerkstatt10682 жыл бұрын

@oldtimerwerkstatt10682 жыл бұрын

It would be interesting to know how many original km the car and the engine has,also if it has hydraulic brakes.
@oldtimerwerkstatt10682 жыл бұрын
The original km are unknown. The number must be huge. The eyes and bolts of the spring blade turning points were extremely worn. The car has - as all AC/C4 and AC/C6's - cable operated brakes with the original Westinghouse servo power support. The engine and the gearbox might be original. At least they are correct in type and year. I replaced some parts of the gears from an other used AC4 gearbox. You may have a look at www.tractionavant.club/Berichte/2009/Taxi/taxi.php were I wrote the story of the restoration. It's in German, but there are a lot of pictures that are "international". At the end of each report you'll find a link to the next one. Pictures of the Taxi and two other pre-war Citroëns are here: www.oldtimer-taxi.ch/flotte.php
