Oh well, it had to happen I suppose but to take on some of these routes with an Ami is brave!! It's good to see how well it does, especially when all the EV naysayers complain about vehicles with ranges of 150 - 200 miles, it just shows what can be done with a 50 mile range and some ingenuity. I'm waiting for the Fiat version next year and hope to have as much fun 🙂
@jackoneil3933 Жыл бұрын
Indeed... The 50mile range light EV like the AMi obviously make much more sense as affordable transport with minimal emissions and environmental impact than the battleship EV that is being touted the survivors of the planet. I used to have a company that built electric Aircraft Tugs and decades ago we considered some designs for something very much like the AMI, and we figured that one of the big benefits of a light EV was the lower KWh requirements equals faster charging, And as LifePo4 (Lithium Iron) batteries can be charged 3 times faster than a comparable Lithium Battery, and can do 3 to 8 times more cycles ,for less cost, a LIfePo4 pack that provided level-2 charging in the Ami Tim and Boo's 30min lunch charge could add 50miles or more.
@MeandMonAmi Жыл бұрын
Absolutely
@jackoneil3933 Жыл бұрын
@@MeandMonAmi After more than a year putting LifePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries through use and abuse testing, and I've become a huge fan and advocate of Lithium Iron batteries over Lithium Ion. Add in the much lower environmental impact and safety of Lithium Iron Phosphate and the marginally greater weight and size over Li-Ion in small EVs and ebikes seems less of an issue than it might be in large battleship EVs, It seems to me with more charging locations, with a higher capacity Lithium-Iron batteries in the AMI, and much lower overall cost, I think most people would quickly prefer the AMI over their current land yachts. BTW: This summer I used my 1300watt DIY eBike, (sometimes with a single wheel Yakima trailer) for daily use and did a bit over 1,000 miles.That required about 30 Kilowatt hours or $2.75 in electricity to charge, and generated about 12kg in CO2. Driving that 1,000mi in my petrol powered vehicle would have generated about 500kg in CO2 and cost about $250 in fuel , and the eBike it was a fun and health improving option. I just wish something like the AMI was available in America, I'd use it for about 90% of my transport needs.

You could do a review of the French breakdown services. In the UK you have the AA and the RAC, which both help out motorists who have run out of fuel regardless of what type of fuel but it's more common for petrol cars to run out even when you take into account the amount of EV's on the roads. Let's see what the French have.

I love watching your adventures, as well as all the techical stuff you touch on from time to time. I wouldn't mind more technical stuff, but I appreciate that some viewers ar more interested in seeing were you go, than how you get there. Maybe an idea to have a side chanel "Technically Mon Ami" where you can go more in details on technical stuff", and maybe maybe release reviews and tests over there, to let the main channel focus on your trips. I would enjoy some number crunching summaries of your trips, but I believe that could impact the ratings of your main channel. I think in depth technical videos could possibly benefit from their own channel. Testing batteries, reviewing accessories, testing other 'no permit vehichles". I would realy enjoy your review of Ligier Myli and other cars, because your deep extencive experience from owning the Ami, give a different and more interesting perspective to a review, than any regular car journalist. They tend to compare it to something its not intended to be. Just some thaughts; in the end it's your channel; and you know better what you want to do. ❤🙂☀️
