I enjoy OSV's informative and no gimmicks reviews unlike some others.I've always liked the Cactus but have just purchased the new Honda Civic which is brilliant.

Coming from the focus review. I'd love it if this was in higher video quality. Maybe a re-upload or re-review?

Good review is the cactus more refined and comfortable than a vw golf?

Way more polished and focused than the old cactus but I really don't like the new design.

Thanks for the comment Major Spam the design of the Cactus has always been a 'love it or hate it' one!

My Wife has one and it's frightening on corners , very soft unamusable suspension means you nearly roll over on bends , doors are tinney and cheap feel . OK for local shopping I suppose .

Heating controls on a menu system rule this one out. Ill thought out and dangerous design. It's said that car designers respond to customer demand. Show me someone, anyone who thinks this was a good idea. These gimmicks are being imposed on people by car designers with zero common sense...WHY?! Pop out windows are a bad joke, and I hear the gearchange is awful. The suspension is very interesting, but the rest of the car has too many flaws. What next square wheels? Controversial changes to a car's operation such as heating and other controls going into screens and the removal of handbrake have one frustrating effect on many deep thinking people. Removal of choice. Otherwise good cars are dismissed because of an unwise design choice. Look at the ford focus. Electric brake on all models. No handbrake. How many sales would ford have lost if they retained a conventional handbrake? Zero? How many sales will they lose due to lack of a handbrake? Many. It makes for a high risk commercial strategy.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the comment. good points you have made here. I don't think anyone was impressed by the heating controls on the cactus.

I bought the car today. Touch screen is very responsive and hardly any lag so it isn't much of an issue to change use it. And mine even though it is an automatic has a hand brake. I didn't know there were models that came without a hand brake. As far as design is concerned one of the main reason I went for it is the design. This looks like a concept car. My other car is the Volkswagen ID which cost a lot more and has horrible touch screen and such bland looks. I prefer the diesel automatic anyday
@jeremylister893 жыл бұрын
@@ayakasimp5675 It doesn't matter how responsive or how quickly you get used to heating controls on a screen. It will always be more distracting and slower. In other words inferior in safety terms than a well positioned manual control, you don't even have to take your eyes off the road. Voice control if it works is a viable alternatve. Change is not always progress. Sometimes it's regression.

But the car has android auto. You don't need to use hands at all just voice controls is enough. Of course for the older people in family you might have to set it up once but to be honest I find it a lot more convenient than buttons. Apart from the fact that no more cleaning up all those annoying knobs and buttons and spaces in between. But ofc I guess everyone has personal preferences :) I'm surprised about the hand brake though. I was expecting auto handbrake since parking brake engages in most automatic cars and disengages by itself when you speed up but my cactus has the old school handbrake.

What about the negatives, OSV? Heating and a/c controlled through a slow to respond touchscreen, lack of a rev counter and a lack of an adjustable boot floor which creates a massive step when the rear seats are folded down spring to mind. As Nik0749 suggests, this feels like a promotional video review which lacks credibility. A real shame, I really wanted to say your review WAS an independent honest review, but it doesn't come across in that way.
