citroen c4 gear knob and gaiter

turn a knob 90° degrees and pull as hard as you can... only thing you might break (when doing it wrong) is the sleeve, but that also only costs like 90 cents.. ;)

There aren't any treads. peugeot,citroen and fiat from that age use the same "gear knob sleeve". turning the knob is for loosening up the sleeve from lever. again the lever aint threaded so you just pull the knob off. this dudes video gives maybe a better overview whats goin' on - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2rUZXiOdrWkqMU he used his old sleeve for new knob (breaking his already broken knob to get the sleeve out). i used an replacement sleeve for new knob as i didn't want to cut open my OEM knob that had only some wear on it, also i wasn't sure that the sleeve can survive the dismount :) (sleeves plastic may had gotten brittle with the time)

after cutting the zip tie holding the gator on, the knob can be manhandled off vertically while twisting left and right, the original knob contains like 700g of lead in it. my aliexpress aftermarket plops rather loosely on, but for 4 quid its better looking than original

cheap aliexpress sleeves (or knobs) will have a loose tolerances. but maybe little pvc electrical tape around the sleeve? or around a lever? to tighten the fit on loose parts?... my 5 cents..
