If you're talking about the awkward handshake, there were 4 teams of 5 people on each alliance for a total of 40.

what are those things at 2:25? I've seen a few teams use them during assembly. are they just to hold things together while you're riveting?

Those are clecos. They’re pretty useful when assembling stuff together.
