Painter’s tape gang!! Big fan of this recipe. I use it a lot to introduce people to mead. It is balanced and supports a lot of honey varietals in a simple way.

I have a gallon measuring cup which I find to be very useful for making the must. That way you can precisely add however much volume that you want, and by using the whisk attachment on an immersion blender. You get to mix in your honey easily, and incorporate plenty of air for initial fermentation. I'm always paranoid that I'll lose control when shaking it by hand.

Newb question - not seeing it in the book either. Is it one full packet of yeast for the recipe? I made a double so wondering if I should add a second.

Hey I don’t think so. In his other video about scaling from 1-5gallons he talks about when scaling up you multiply everything by 5 other than the yeast. The yeast is always just one packet.

I was at the brew shop Wednesday. When I walked in, the other customer was asking what yeast to use for his mead. The owner is my friend, and we are in the brew club together. He referred the guy to me, I recommended K1-V1116 and made sure he had nutrient and he left. My friend then asked for mead references to give out to customers asking for help. I recommended your book and sent him the link. He was impressed and voiced the want for a physical book. Anywho, just wanted to tell you people are loving it!

So I’m a veteran beekeeper and new to mead but having fun really not a drinker. Not far from you would you like to challenge me with the same recipe if I supplied my honey I live 40min south of Lawton

In the recipe in your book, you say to use wildflower honey. Do you think using orange blossom would compliment the citrus profile? Or do you think it would be too much or perhaps overpower the lemon and lime?
