Barca short bench is showing itself. Even today, the subs did nothing. Fdj was trash, ferran was the worst barca player (even with his goal), pau victor done nothing, fort was also meh. To compete, we need depth. Also yamal is hard carrying. He was the only one doing smh later in the game. Szczęsny needs to start too. Pena was good today but he is shaky and in those last few games, could have done a bit better on the goals conceeded. If I were in charge, sell fdj, ferran, garcia and fati. Buy a creative winger, a fullback and a striker

As a Barca fan i am not surprised or upset as i saw this coming from a mile away, the fans who were saying we were the best in the world are always a joke to me. We have no bench players and quite honestly half of our starting XI was over performing heavily. The only players sustaining their form are Raphinha, Pedri and Cubarsi. My breakdown of the remaining starting players: Pena, very shaky in my opinion. He makes some goods saves but offers nothing other than that, he also loses the ball way too much by just kicking it out for throw ins. Furthermore, he is very small and has no real presence in the box during corners and set pieces. Kounde looks pretty gassed out and has been playing very pragmatically, which isn't bad but also compared to his more risky plays in the begging 1/4 of the season which really helped in opening up the right side for Yamal, simply means we have less movement on the right side of the pitch. Martinez makes way too many errors both with his feet and when defending, i think he was great whilst the 'off side trap'/ high line was effective, but the moment we come up against teams who play direct and over the top he is exposed as he is physically not capable of keeping up. Personally i can't wait to see Aruajo back as his physicality is needed. Balde is the most dissapointing player in the team for me... he has everything a player could want physically, but he does not look up with the ball at his feet. Balde has a real hard time getting balls into the box, furthermore, his understanding of tempo and how his team mates make runs is worrying for a player who is playing at the highest level. Casado, at first he felt like the missing piece for Barca, but with the matches we have recently seen against more closed off teams who defend deeper his productivity has significantly dropped. Barca are a team which like to go blow for blow, and for that Casado is perfect as his quick ball retention and good understanding of where to place the ball makes him a valuable piece in a high tempo match, but when the game is slower and you have to break down a low block he is quite useless. Olmo/De Jong/Fermin is who we have seen playing at the 10 role for the past few matches and this is honestly where i see the biggest issue in our team at the moment. At the start of the season this sector of the pitch was the area in which we created the most dangerous chances and controlled our attacking play, however, with the injury to Olmo and De jong and fermin simply not being able to play the role, we have seen how the absence of a 10 is detrimental to our play. As for Olmo himself, he opens himself up nicely, but he reminds me of bruno ferandes a lot, a very low efficiency player, in the sense that he takes a lot of silly shots and impossible passes instead of prioritizing the efficient play. Yamal has been great however the injury meant i just had to leave him of my consistent list as he missed a couple of games. Lewandowski... how has he scored all those goals the way he is playing? honestly, what an annoying player. How many times does he lose the ball due to a bad touch or a miss placed pass? he has some of the worst back to goal play i have seen from an elite number 9, sometimes i wonder if he only knows how to play facing the goal. Sure he has scored a good amount of goals, some being in very big moments, but when he is not scoring we are playing a man down as he is not pressing or having any sort of positive impact on the play.

I wouldn’t say Barca are collapsing their starting 11 usually gets the job done their issue is the quality of their depth they have zero depth in key areas such as fullback and wingers the second one of their key players gets injured the quality of play takes a massive drop their cbs have also gotten pretty much no rest Araujo and Christensen still aren’t available to play and their young cbs aren’t experienced enough not only that but their midfielders have also been struggling De jong has been terrible still trying to get himself together since his ankle issues, gavi hasn’t played an entire year he’s gonna need time to really make an impact on the team and hansi flick doesn’t seem to trust Pablo torre despite looking very good when coming off the bench the only solution for Barca is to make some signings in January to help them in terms of depth.
