Watching you load that trailer makes me appreciate that our summer and winter pastures are only five miles apart. We can open the gate , slowly start the cows out the gate, and they will move themselves the rest of the route, down county dirt roads for a few miles, then a half mile of paved road, before they hang a right turn on a two track between wheat fields, and through the gate to the new grazing. The old cows have done it so many times that they move themselves, both directions. We can move 150 cows with two riders, who mostly just deal with the stragglers.

@@leannyK it's hard to lose a friend , a partner, and teammate. Horse's have a way of giving a person a new meaning on life and partnership. Our creator new what he was doing when he created the equine. The last of my herd that is still alive was born 1991in April. He pulled me through a lot of ups and downs. He did it all. From shows, trails, to parades, and going across some of Ontario Canada. Plus, taught my people how to ride. He also saved my life a few times. I hope you found a new mount. I did and she a doll. I'm pleased to see that you still use horses. When my folks retired from ranching, we leased the pasture to a neighbor. He uses ATVs to work cattle. It seems all wrong! The same neighbor who leased the pasture also bought our herd, so the cows didn't need to move. They seemed confused and alarmed by ATVs, though!

Never seen a bull broken, heard about it but thankfully never seen one before. I hope he heals or that would be your 3rd bull this year. You guys are pretty loud but have you ever seen any big cat's? Sounds funny but when I was younger we had masks we wore facing backwards so it looked like we had two faces, hoping the cats would not jump on us from behind off rocks. I saw a big cat at a distance in mid 1980s, nice to watch from a distance, would not want one behind me. Rosie was not going to let a little cancer cause her to loose a race to the other horses. She did great. Hope you all stay safe and healthy.

Growing up my grandfather and I raised dairy replacements. We used to breed our holsteins to Jersey bulls. We had two Jersey bowls at this particular time... As my grandfather put it One bowl has been doing the breeding the other ball has been licking the other bulls nuts... When we got rid of the breeding bowl because he started to turn ugly. I kept the other bull to breed. Let's just say there were 14 heifers that fall that did not get bred...

You know the city boys have truly turned cowboy when you invite them to a branding. After they wrestle calves for a while, hand them a pocket knife, and ask them to help out by taking over castration duties. Watch their eyes get huge thinking about their new task! Start explaining the job like it's no big deal, and see how fast their opposite conclusion manifests. 😉

I've been thinking about your bull that's been injured (?). It's really a shame. If you could give each of your bulls their own herd of cows/heifers it should keep things like that from happening. If he's not going to be of any use that's a lot of money (resource) gone. What is your father going to do with him?

Yeah, everyone should change the way they do things to accommodate you. Talk about entitled. Great advice, beat the cattle with a stick because you don’t like whistling. Why don’t you post a video so some random nobody on the internet can criticize the way you do things. You should probably give them your phone number so they can ask for your advice before doing anything else that you don’t like. Don’t watch if you don’t like it.
