That game definitely helped me to manage driving cars. I bought some racing games and also this game with a G27 wheel for Christmas now 3 years ago.. At that point I didn't yet start taking driving lessons, that came half a year later. After playing a bit of this game, some racing games and Euro Truck Sim2, I passed my drivers license (car under 3.5tons and also cars with trailers) with the least amount of lessons taken possible. I think the games helped me to manage and get a feeling for driving manual cars (and also with a trailer). For that, it was definitely worth a buy, considering the realism and moddability of the game. But if you want it for entertainment purposes only? As Mack said, not worth a buy.

I remember playing this game in 2012... When there was only a russian version of it So yeah... This was never supposed to be an actual "game"... Simply a Simulator for Driving Schools... For Russian Driving Schools.

Hey Mack, you seem to enjoy driving physics. The only game I've been totally hooked on where my partner had to sit me down and intervene because I was playing it too much, was Live For Speed. The graphics are rubbish (dated) but the feel and physics are awesome. I'd be interested in your opinion of it.

You hit the nail on the head with this review. I had the game way before it was on steam and had the exact same thought and I'm playing only with a wheel and pedals, no VR. The progression is absolutely infuriating as I was using this game as a driving instructor to get the hang of driving before getting on the actual road but I got penalized for for nothing and my points just disappeared, sometimes ten at a time. The graphics and city/map could use work but driving is realistic at least. Not worth 20 dollars, more like 10.

Well that was one of the fastest and more straight forward reviews....wheel = yes, rift = yes (otherwise no). You didn't mention x-box controller. Does it at least get a C+ with that?

Just exchanged my Serial key for a Steam copy. Haven't played this since 2014 when I bought, didn't even have a Rift then! Hopefully I'll enjoy it again now. If you need to exchange your copy for a Steam version the info is on their website.

Do Project cars mate.. very good. Been using my Vive for around 7 Month with Elite dangerous, DLC combat simulator, Eurotruck simulator etc. Arizona rising is my latest edition but only good if you have room space. Hot dogs, hand grenades and horseshoes is also fun.

Serious question - Could this game be used as a study tool? I am actually preparing for my real-life drivers exam in France. However lessons (which are required) are extremely expensive in France, do you think this is good enough to serve as a accompanment to getting my license. Obviously not to replace real-life experiance. I am looking for something to help my actual driving, not for entertainment.

Yes and no. It can help newbies to stop overmonitoring surroundings while driving, it can teach you why there are some rules in place (like why you should not overtake to the right of a vehicle) if you brake those rules. It can help you with getting used to manual transmission, some stressful situations (oncoming traffic, pedestrians) And some over things. It's a great addition if you're a newbie driver and if you have a wheel. But will it help you to pass an actual exam? I highly doubt it. Sure, there are some lessons/missions in the game (parallel parking, moving uphill - the usual stuff), but they feel awkward (maybe it's better with a VR set, but I don't have one). Also, there are some unconventional lessons, but developers did something to mistake registering system, so most of those lessons became more of a chore than a fun educational experience (I DID TURN LEFT SIGNAL!!! I DID STOP BEFORE THE LINE! **CK YOU, GAME!!).

I have the same situation.. I have this game for years now (before steam release... because its kindy old game now) No... real instructor its better BUT if you have a steering wheel AND an Oculus could actually help a bit. But It`s not ebought on its own and also can be a bit distracting too (the cluch control was different in the game and in the car what I drive with the instructor... so I left the game out now)

For the average person, I believe it takes 40x 1 hour lessons and 20x 1 hour practice sessions to pass the driving test in the UK. I had 3 hours of real world practice and used this software to simulate the rest. There's no dodging the bullet. Real world lessons are essential, but this game will help you pass the test first time. If you're on a budget Id recommend triple monitors (refurbs are cheap. I got mine for less than half price new. They were supposed to have a dead pixel but I can't find it.) and nothing slower than an Nvidia 950 card. You'll need access to those wing mirrors at all times. A single screen with TrackIR won't cut it.

Andy B this isn't officially supported on Vive, perhaps he doesn't know about the revive injector which makes most oculus games work on Vive, including this one.

You Mack, and everybody in the comments, are way too harsh on this one. This is a ten year old game that was clearly developed as a simulator and you are asking for it to be a new Horizon or GTA game. Give this team the budget of a GTA game and they'll create a driving experience that will shit all over GTA (in the driving/traffic part it already does imo). I guess if you were to view it strictly as a game you could call it a "tech demo" showing what can be achieved today and later put in a bigger better game. What this game set out to do (driving/traffic) it did brilliantly. If only bigger companies would care this much for details like these.

This game is awesome IF you haven`t got a driving license (I played this game for a long good time maybe 1-2 years ago... just with the steering wheel) and It`s fun. Without steering wheel it`s crap.
