City driving Garmin Drivesmart 65

The Waze free GPS for the phone can alert Speed Camera, Police, Crashes, Traffic Jams, Hazards on road and other Hazards can the Garman Drivesmart 65 do this also.

I'm technically challenged and no computer geek. However, I just bought one of these Garmins and I am enjoying it so much. I'm almost looking for strange places now it can take me to. I would advise to pay extra and purchase the bean bag dash holder for it. While it comes with the suction mount, after seeing how many times my dash cam has let go and fallen, I would recommend the dash holder. This unit is too big to come crashing down without potential damage.

Tie one piece of nice stealthy black paracord to the rear end of the unit and one end to the rearview mirror and no device ever will come crashing down when the suction cup looses it´s vacuum during the summer heat ;) I wonder why no one ever had the idea of binding some arresting cable to the rearview mirror or car roof sunshade and one end to dashcams and night vision devices and navigators and GoPros and other gadgets to prevent such expensive devices from falling down. I do this since 2005 when I got my first Navigon 5 PNA4000 which was one of the best back then. Once or twice a week it was loosely hanging on that paracord during summer.... because suction cups just don´t function in the summer heat. Today´s devices seem to have highest quality smartphone gorilla glass so only the dashboard gets a huge dent shattered into it when such heavy big screens loose the grip and come crushing down twice a week. NEVER trust a suction cup - no matter how big and soft and quality-made it looks like ;) on the first hot day it will fall off the windshield.

How comes it that in all languages this device has a beautyful soft natural voice... but in German it sounds like an early WindowsXP text to speech generator version "Domina"? :D This device is the best of the best and I absolutely love it, it is so gorgeous looking and beautyful and stylish and has so many features.... but a few new nice voice packs and voice updates would be great. Are there any voice packs somewhere to download, I cannot find any. Especially voice packs of beloved movie stars would be awesome, for example Captain Jean-Luc Picard telling me where to fly - I know that current generation AI´s can perfectly emulate celebrity voices ;)

Just my 2 cents... unless you're a bit of an electronics nerd and have cash to spare, from a practical standpoint it doesn't appear to offer enough of an improvement over the 61 to justify upgrading.

Man it seemed like Garmin would get more realistic on here and look a little better I've been wanting to get me a GPS cuz I drive expedite sprinter van over the road but I've been using my Google maps because it gives you immediate detours if there's traffic jams or any of that so I don't know if it's worse for me to buy a GPS or not cuz I noticed it don't have the features like Google what do you think what's your opinion do you think Google maps is better than the Garmin drive smart anyone I've been using Google map for years and I love it but it puts a lot of strain on your cell phone

a bit late but i will give you may take on it. I also use mostly waze on my phone for navigating which obviously has better traffic prediction then any standaalone navi. But the apps have a chance to bug out. I.e. crash/wrong gps location etc, its rare but had it happen to me. Also since you have you phone with you everywhere there always is the risk of you dropping it or it getting stolen. So now what? All alone in unfamilar place? Without an built in navi or a seperate navi it can be tricky to get home. Especilly if you can drive by old school paper maps ;)

I just bought the DriveSmart 65 and after 2 days' my screen started to work by himself!, like someone touching it all the time. it is starting after a 20min of use, i have sent it back to garmin as thay say it is defected. did any one had this issiue with the device?

That sounds like a problem caused by pressing on the screen too hard. It was likely damaged in the manufacturing plant or during transit

Great videos, i really like the side by side, garmin versus phone video that you did, could you do a side by side video with this garmin satnav and a mobile phone, the phone with a free offline GPS like, Here we go, or Maps.me. The Garmin would win, but it would be interesting to see if the offline maps are any good.
