Cool video, I live down in Ketchikan, I wish we allowed bait, but here it's artificial lures only in freshwater for salmon.

Those are some tiny Coho, would make good bait for Kenai Coho.

Sounds like you need to drive to Ship Creek and catch your bait then. Let us know how you do.

Do these bobber setups work for kings as well or do you need a spin-n-glow for kings?
@scottbauer56744 жыл бұрын
Kings tend to hang lower in the water, but as long as you get the hook in the mouth you are good. Many unfortunately just try to legally snag by waiting for the hook to enter the open mouth... setting the hook without even knowing if a fish is there

Don't just leave a fish in there so it looks like you got 2. Take the first fish, bonk it, and then get the other fish. Don't just make the fish suffer because you want to look cool.

Is fresh roe readily available in Anchorage so I can cure my own when I arrive?
@TeamPautzke6 жыл бұрын
If you catch a female salmon you'll have fresh roe. Otherwise, buying fresh (uncured) roe is a chore.

@@TeamPautzke Thank you for your reply.
@TeamPautzke6 жыл бұрын
You bet. They sell pre-packaged roe at all the retailers in Alaska. It's not as good as curing your own, but is a good start.

Those guys flossing it look like or maybe they were snaging what difference, anyways they didn't look to happy hour guys catching fish on eggs, cause it puts their hole argument of fish don't bite in the rivers to death
@colbyleenewton89756 жыл бұрын
NatesTackleBOX reds don’t bite in the rivers dumass silvers kings humpys and dogs bite in the river
@jeffersonharris80726 жыл бұрын
You catch more silvers flossing the tide going out than you do fishing roe on the high tide.
@davidslabicki58536 жыл бұрын
Flossing should be banned what a way to fish just try and snag lmfao i guess if ur that hurting for food snag away but try fish salmon properly and actually get the fish take ur presentation very rewarding
@davidslabicki58536 жыл бұрын
And reds do bite in rivers all the time quite aggresive fish i dont know who told u they dont but use ur head u say all other salmon bite but reds dont lmfao try fishing reds you will see they bite
@sockeyeboy4 жыл бұрын
@@davidslabicki5853 I've been fishing sockeye for decades and have had less than a dozen hit the lure. Flossing is an art, too. It definItely is NOT snagging

50,000 people go to Alaska to try to snag salmon and no one ever thought to fish roe ? LOL
@TeamPautzke6 жыл бұрын
Not sure anyone understands this comment? Every one fishes roe in Alaska.

50,000 come to snag? I’m confuzzled.
@rocketman2069 Жыл бұрын
That is for sockeye (red) salmon, since they do not tend to feed when they are spawning. You are supposed to "floss" them fish and pull the hook into their mouths. Check out the russian river! There is legal snagging in soldotna for a short time, which does not require a hook in the mouth and is pretty brutal.
