I'm impressed with the health of the fishery. While we have some great Smallmouth fishing here in east Tennessee on the local rivers, I normally don't see girths like this on our rivers. While I love fishing for Smallmouth I also love seeing different habits for these fish. Thanks for sharing.

I started fishing back in 1976 when I was in my mid twenty's. I used to come home from church and as I walked in the door I turned on fishing shows like Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston and Bill Dance and a bunch of others that have come and gone. Over the years I watched them less and less, not because I did not like fishing anymore, but they just became pretty much the same thing every week. I don't watch too many fishing shows until I found yours. I sit just enthralled at where and how you fish. We do have some small mouth fishing in Oklahoma, but not like what you have. Anyway, love, love, love your show.

Unfortunately this stretch is pretty much a dead zone for bass now. There was a power plant that pumped warm water into the river and let a bunch of smallies grow old and huge. They closed the plant down a few years ago and there’s not much depth on this stretch of river for fish to winter in, and of course those first couple winters were really harsh and killed off all the big smallies. I’ve wondered if some went over the dam to the reservoir on the next stretch but haven’t found anything really big there yet.
