I first saw Gates Of Hell in theaters with my older girlfriend when I was 14. But I couldn't enjoy it because she kept getting scared and hugging my head covering my eyes. So on the last day I decided to go and see it alone with no interruption. I went to the last showing and it was already full. But there were so many of us outside that they decided to open a midnight screening!😁 YES! Well the movie's atmosphere had me scared. During the intestines vomiting scene some guy had a medical emergency maybe his heart. Paramedics had to come in and take him away on a stretcher! People began murmuring that it was due to the extreme gore! The movie ended at 2:00am at that time there's no taxis or busses so I had to walk home. On my way any sound I heard I thought it was a zombie lol!😂 This was the last time I got scared by a movie and I loved it. My favorite Fulci movie is The Beyond. Good review and cool video Pizowell!👉😃👈

This def. brings back good memories!!! 42nd St. NYC the grindest theaters were the best. My Father and I went to see this Gem of a movie (Originally titled "The Gates of Hell" Back then) and It was Glorious! The effects, the gore, the tension was thrilling. Loved it from beginning to end! a little confused at the end but overall, A movie that shall not be ignored. Easily top 5 of all time! Great Review Pizowell like always much love from Puerto Rico!

This movie absolutely embodies my childhood and is one of the films directly associated with my obsession of horror. I own so many copies of Lucio Fulci's masterpiece The Gates of Hell. My favorite shirt is the one that you are rocking here Piz. I'm anxiously waiting for this copy to arrive currently.

Shoe-string budget 🙂 The Bloody program changed what I wrote, yep the make up Is awesome (Giannetto DeRossi), the lightning and the camera work HQ, the score Is fine this film .

As a Italian horror fan, as a Sergio Martino and Dario Argento fan, you would think I'd like a lot of Fulci. I love Zombie, House by the cemetary, New york ripper, Don't torture a duckling, and Murder rock. I gave Murder rock a 3rd or 4th viewing. Hadn't seen it in years and I loved it. I was impressed. But the rest of his movies I can't get into at all. Like The beyond. I've given The beyond at least 3 or 4 viewings and each time can't get into it at all. I did watch City of the living dead last year...it was good at times. I really liked the zombie stuff towards the end. I actually liked the fact that the zombies could just magically teleport. That was cool. I did like the opening and the music as well.

I was tempted by this but already have the Blue Underground blu-ray and, unlike a lot of other Italian cult enthusiasts, my favorites are not the gory horror films or the giallo, but all the dystopian Mad Max/Escape from NY/Warriors knockoffs from the 80s that I call Pasta-pocalypse films. Because of that, New Gladiators (aka: Warriors of the Year 2072) is my favorite Fulci film and, for many years, the only Fulci film I'd ever seen. I rented it from a local video store along with stuff like Endgame, After the Fall of NY and, my all time favorites, Bronx Warriors & Escape from the Bronx.

Watched it over the weekend. When I was a teenager I had an incredibly shitty looking VHS tape of this, and never in a million years would I have thought I’d be someday watching it looking as good as it does now. It’s a small thing, but I really like the case that the soundtrack cd is in. Looks like some effort was actually put into that.

One of my favorite Fulci movie. It is so good but it is not a popcorn movie so you have to be in the good mindset to see it. I like everything about this movie : the sound design, the production design, the music, the directing itself, the actors. Great movie. Grain presence has to be present of course it was shot on film. If you do not see the grain than there is a problem but from what you said grain was present. Do you now the poliziesco: Live Like A Cop Die Like A Man, from Deodato ? I watched it Yesterday on Prime and it is Really good and a lot of fun !

This is one of my favorite Lucio Fulci films along with Zombie and The New York Ripper but he had a lot of good movies I haven't mentioned the gut throwing up scene is the best gore effect of all time nobody has done anything close to it since is this limited edition version still available with the soundtrack

With regards to the audio tracks.... do you generally prefer the original, (I always do), or the English (dub)? I was just wondering, as I have tons of German krimi films, and 9 times out of 10, the dubbed versions tend to be pretty bad, as they overdo the British accents!

I watched with the English dub. The English dubbing on the Italian releases has never bothered me. If anything, I find it highly entertaining at times.

@@pizowell I know what you mean regarding entertaining, and I guess overall over-dubbing, as a rule, does usually come across fine, but the German krimi's seem to go OTT with the British accents ol' chap🧐
