Well done for broaching the subject of meat consumption. There is a disconnect of how the meat on supermarket shelves appears on the shelf. The majority of people simply don’t care or can’t afford to buy responsibly raised and sourced meat.

Nice one Amie this is the first time i have watched you and that was a perfect head shot if you ask me so keep doing what you enjoy as you seem to have what it takes for You Tube.
@jarrodmccorriston4739Ай бұрын
The gagging part made me laugh so much. Your 100% correct regarding the complete disconnect with people buying meat in the shops and harvesting it yourself Amie. Ignore the haters. If your a member of BASC there is a ladies club I believe for deer stalking, take it to the next level and go for a days stalking. Excellent experience you will never forget. I harvest all of my annual meat from the wild and some fish. I never take any more than I need and share the rewards with friends and family.
@amieflyfish2577Ай бұрын
That’s one of the things that’s drew me towards the hunting community, they trade goods and share meat. I’m on a stalk next month and hope to document it in a similar way to this.

But you are right what you've done, clean fresh meat done ethically and with zero carbon. Will done Amie. I also like to see the budget rifles getting a good showing. Demonstrating that you don't need an expensive one for the job. 5 star video.

great film Amy, its good to show people where the food comes from, some people have no idea let alone where on the animal it comes from, i was a butcher back in my youth and even worked in the commercial processing plant along with the abbatoir, weird how some of these non meat eating, animal & peace loving people can be so vile to those that do ?? make your choice but dont preach about it. great film

Fair play Amie, this was a surprise vid, was only used to you fiddling fish out the water. Big respect for you going out and tackling this completely on your own, it would have been so much easier somebody showing you the ropes, but feel you got the full experience by actually doing it yourself. It's natural to hunt Aime, don't let anybody tell you any different. See any 3yr old chasing pigeons round in a town centre and try to tell me that instinct isn't kicking in. Its hard for people to make the connection between animals and meat. I'm pretty sure 90 percent of people would see things differently if they had slaughter there own food. Hope this is only the start of your journey in hunting. Thanks for sharing.❤

A great watch amie ,, cracking shot too for someone who's only just recently started , yes if you hunt for rabbits deer pheasant ect for food then shoot away ,,but I don't agree with it purely for sport and the meat is then destroyed ..having been a chef we had freshly shot rabbit and pheasant occasionally the odd road kill deer brought into us,, and yes the taste is very different from batch fed animals raised purely for the dinner table ,, but as always your vids are funny but educational too .. keep up the good work

@SD-ft6gsАй бұрын
This was awesome! Fantastic Job! Really loved this episode because of the balanced perspectives you offered. totally brilliant. As an outdoors person, who fishes and hunts, I really appreciate your work in communicating the real picture. Now to make a piece explaining to all the anti hunting people what would happen in a land (Britain) that has very few predators left apart from humans, if the populations of Bambi's and Bugs bunnies go out of control. who will suffer most? We are in a similar quandary here in the US --few natural predators left, although certainly more then the UK. There are regions where that is not the case, but in those areas, the ecosystems are generally in balance... But in the majority of the populated areas of the US the balance is gone. These areas were a combination of declining hunters, severe constriction of accessible hunting land due to unsustainable development, and a serious declining in non human predators --tiny bear populations, tiny wild cat populations, no wolves, etc -- has meant an explosion of deer, rabbits and geese whose population boom responsible for creating a plethora of difficult problems. From an explosion of ticks (in concert with warming climate) which end up affecting other animals negatively (Moose/Caribou) as well as new diseases, fungus, bacteria and cross species viruses affecting all members of their compromised ecosystems; to a number of other overpopulations issues lowering the quality of life of all of the fauna and flora in those ecosystems. (not even considering the human nuisance ones). People don't seem to understand that we have very little actual "natural" ecosystems left and that we now have an important role in balancing the "nature" we want to treasure, and that if we remove the necessary population control work like hunting will result in ecosystem collapses. Too many fast breeding grazers = food shortages > food shortage = grazers eat everything else they can easily access, including fragile/vulnerable flora as well as come into human subdivisions, bringing ticks and diseases, resulting in conflicts with humans, road kill etc etc. Basically anti-hunting folks are not animal saviors they are human guilt apologists... Now trophy hunting/fishing, well that is a different thing and I am ready and willing to fight against either Marlin fishing or canned Lion/Oryx hunts any day! Those activities are inane at every level.

Growing up, I've always been very involved with animals. My father is a veterinarian, so I have seen many animals die from disease or being euthanized. My grandfather on the same side of the family was a butcherer. My grandfather, on the other side, raised White Tailed Deer for trophy hunters. My family also raises cattle for our own meat. For me, hunting animals has never really been something I think is wrong. I've shot and killed many animals, and where I'm from, that's completely normal. It's interesting to see how things are different in other parts of the world.

So unlike fishing where we can release the catch without any harm done to it here you are deliberately choosing to kill an animal for fun/sport. The "for food" argument falls apart when you can get yourself meat in any supermarket, you dont "need" to hunt for rabbits. So yeah overall pretty sucky and ill be unfollowing.
@SpanielshuntingtrialingNZАй бұрын
Amie is responsible as demonstrated by this video, I find your argument for purchasing meat from a supermarket being more ethical illogical, hunting and eating what is harvested is logical and ethical. Fishing "catch and release" is logical in a high use fishery but some fish will die after being released due to stress and injury.
@vk_6915Ай бұрын
The whole point of her video is to show that we can get out there wan meat that’s never had a needle in it. She has shown that she wants to make it as human as possible too. There is no shame in harvesting your own meat whatsoever, especially rabbits that are abundant in areas. You might not mind the idea of eating meat that has been kept in sheds all it’s life and jabbed with meds, then brought away to be stuck with a knife. I prefer to get my own meat and eat ever little shop bought meat.
@jameslinari-linholm8531Ай бұрын
And nothing dies for the meat in the supermarket? Or is it acceptable to pay someone else to do the killing, just not to do it yourself? That rabbit knew nothing about it, unlike the fish in your comparison that gets dragged about by the lip, suffocated a bit, then put back in to go through it all tomorrow.
