I remember tripping on mushrooms at desert festival I was performing at. maybe a couple hours before I was set to go on I trekked up a large hill and got naked alone at the top, basking In the wind and the freedom up there. suddenly I lost my footing and slammed yp against a rock and as I was trying to find my clothes I sliced my foot wide open on a rock. I waved my phones light at the crowd below, called everyone I knew who was down there and eventually my buddy Parker came up to save me. he gave me the clothes off his back and gave me his shoes, guided me back down the mountain, and helped me patch myself up before I had to play my set. I'm pretty sure he out cocaine on my foot to numb it after cleaning it. but before he came up for me. when I was limping around and leaving a trail of blood, I was making the same moans AM was during this song. when I heard the song for the first time it spooked me to no end, as if someone had recorded me suffering in a position I wasn't sure I was going to make it out of. still terrifying to think about, but the set turned out to be alright. wasn't invited to the next festival, LOL

Honestly, I felt like the tone of the song matched the video pretty well. Obviously the song can be interpreted in many ways, but it feels like a simple way to portray a deep seated hopelessness. Representing a child like spirit of hope that gets destroyed at every turn, and then the vocalist almost feels like that kid in the future trying to process the empty feeling in response to years of being let down.
