Thank you for your video. I am learning the solo mode, so this is really helpful! In the (multiplayer) rules it says that permanent resources can be used once per round. So when buying 2 buildings in a turn, the permanent resources have to be split between both buildings. Probably you played like this, but if you didn’t, it can be a factor in your great victory 😃 Thanks again, I am confident now that I will manage the solo play!

Glad it could help! I don't think I used permanent resources more than once per round but I do know one thing I messed up was using the resources I gain on the turn I gain them (which apparently is in the rules that you can't do that). I also slightly messed up the token rotation for the solo mode as apparently the token is only supposed to move down after it moves all the way across and resets back at the left

Thank you for responding! The rule book is a bit vague about those two aspects. The wording for moving the AI chips is ambiguous and not being able to use permanent resources right away is only in an example box. I had to research a bit on BGG before getting these things were clear. But I really enjoyed playing it solo.

Nice playthrough, you destroyed the AI!!! It is interesting to compare it with Point Salad: you have the resources, and the tokens are the back of the cards in Point Salad. It seems the distinctive element is really the engine building. And yeah, city-themed games are always entertaining, it seems we never get tired of them!

Thanks! Yeah, there are definitely similarities between the two but as a fan of engine builders and city themed games, I like this one better so far. I've only played it solo, so I am curious how different it plays with other people

You're playing it wrong. The left-hand AI token does not move down until the top token has moved back to the leftmost position. So only the top token moves after the AI has taken two cards. When the top token returns to the leftmost position, that is when the left-hand token moves down.

Ah, good catch! I must've misread the instruction, but upon reading it again you seem to be correct. Thanks for the rules clarification

You are wrong. The AI's moves are explained in the rules in the same way, like the video (and others too) show

Do you think it would be redundant to own both Point City and Splendor? Or do you think there’s enough mechanical and “feel” to each game to warrant owning both?
@boardgameswiththomasАй бұрын
I'd say they're similar enough to just only have one. I haven't played too much Splendor and it's been a while since I've played either of those games but I'd personally keep Point City over Splendor. I think Point City has a bit more depth, I like the art style better, it has a better sized box, and I like the city theme more. Though I don't think you could go wrong with either game!

i appreciate your quick response! I agree with what you said - and I don’t want to spend more money to buy the Splendor expansion for “just a little bit more variety/module” when the core gameplay is so similar. I have a gut feeling that PS will hit the table more …

"easy" was definitely no challenge for you.😅

Yeahh, I haven't played too much so didn't want to overestimate my abilities. Will definitely have to bump up the difficulty for next time

yeah people lose to AI because they focus to much on their play area instead of blocking AI as much as possible.
