Calgary recycling facility dealing with rats

So recycling brings about a pest control problem that we never had before in Calgary/Alberta. Instead of creating a recycle facility here in Alberta, we ship it elsewhere and the containers used to ship the waste around the country or world, bring rats to us. So why are these containers not being cleaned out before they come to Calgary. Norway rats come from Asia, which is where some of our recycle waste is sent to be processed.

By "processed" you mean dumped in the ocean right?

If you separate food waste, keep it out of the recycling and garbage, less rats. I use a tool called bagez in my green bin to keep it clean. Hope it helps

Wow those rats breed as fast as some ethnicities I'm not going to mention.
