There wouldn't be as much need for shelters if there was more affordable housing. There isn't much between super expensive places to live and a shelter. There is a need for more in the middle.

Drug addicts should be in rehab. Should be a requirement. People who just got out of jail should have their own housing to support those with records. Putting them together with people who simply are in a bad spot financially is dangerous.

At least at this shelter, they have beds with no privacy, the shelter here in Lethbridge the homeless sleep on gym mats on a floor with no privacy. To combat the rise in homelessness the waiting list for subsidized housing needs to be abolished.

It is okay to go to a shelter to stay out of the cold. In the winter season, tents will not be enough to keep your body from cooling to low temperature. Problem is they are dangerous places and filled with people from gangs and offenders of more than one crime evading court dates. When you get inside a shelter be prepared to defend your self from harm and your personal belongings from being gone.

Good question . But obviously we need more humane realistic shelters. Not certain if the province will cooperate re: funding. Many people are in Toronto from across Ontario

The couple at 2:00 are waiting for an apartment and will wait a long time because they are the wrong color to get housing. They are white and are multi generational Canadians, that's why.

Argument and rant for the day is the politicians need to stop politicizing the homeless people. As an Indigenous women, our ancestors in the past has welcomed strangers on our sacred lands, we gave them shelter, food and clothing. In return many of our people today find themselves homeless. While these strangers are living in on our sacred lands while many of our people are homeless living across Canada. So who is intitled to shelter and the best places to live and what do these people look like. I think that over the last 20 years the quality of life for many Canadian people is not getting better. For many life is getting harder just to keep food on their table, roof over their head and clothes to wear. Many families do not have money to pay for education or save for retirement. And most people are just one paycheck to being homeless. Homeless people are not just skin-based problem it's everyones problem, with so many people who are living on the streets across Canada who gets the housing first. Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax and other provinces are finding themselves in a bind with no money to pay for their own people who are finding themselves displaced from fires, floods, lost of income has been very hard since before COVID-19. Since COVID-19 the homeless rates has gone up across Canada, there are so many people who are living on the streets, parks and were everywhere they can lay their heads. You will see that many people homes are tents or tarpaulin strung up. On top of that Canada and United States dollars are not backed by gold anymore, and both of these countries are heavily in debt. Also there is talk about out dollars collapsing and moving to a gold standard around the world. On top of our financial problems, many people traveling from their homelands looking for a better life they are crossing our borders, and they are not coming through the proper channels hoping to jump the line of those people who are ahead of them. The people who are coming illegally, feel intitled that they should jump the que and they do not care about others just their needs. In the mean time there are people from their countrys who are doing extremely well, they could or should fundraise funds for their fellow country members as a way to pay forward. They must learn to give back. Yes our governments could give more, but these systems is only supports corporations and their corruption, so that only a few are on top. Every one has a part to play.

The foods and I'm speaking about mainly pastors greasy meat greasy meatballs greasy pork chops all the time with chicken you're lucky to get even the others you get powdered milk cure sometimes you get sugar and some places in some places you don't people with diabetes don't get proper food you also have vegetarians in here that don't eat properly either there's a lot of people in here that are sick somebody has to see this and read it and understand there was a hand reaching out for help and others as well you have to see these places to understand him and how they're just places that are ready to be torn down and rebuilt in other place some shelters last only for two years and then you got to move on who knows what you'll meet up in the next destination I've been beaten up and thrown to the pavement and different shelters nine times and staff there's nothing but if I scream in pain they kicked me out this is twice I said that but the food they give you here is so low grade you wish you hadn't even gone and had your not paid your rent because of other things such as medication gotten away or Bank books had to be updated and things and landlord is picking on you and wanting to take you to court every single month to get extra money out of you the landlord tenant Act is not there for you anymore it's there for the landlord Rich because he is forced to put Anand evidence against you and this sucks it's the landlord staff they can't keep records and that's why we're paying for it in the long run especially people that are on ODSP welfare and the list goes on why can't the government work in a way to make us live where we want to live and work on the payments of rent especially when you're living in a place more than 50 years that's a half a century and it get food out because somebody attacks you mother and father is gone and you're on your own with two cats and you're disabled you can't even walk anymore believe it this is my story TCB third son of Elvis Presley
