I’m going to Dallas in December and I love to watch Hou’s videos. This city is so amazing.

Good exercise on those stairs. A couple of times a week will do wonders for legs and cardio. 👍

Can someone please tell me how good is the DART system? I'm planning to move to Dallas soon and unfortunately I don't drive, thanks
@HOUExplorer3 жыл бұрын
The rail system is good. DART is planning to redesign their bus service this fall. I recommend to live near the rail station.

It's not bad, I ride both bus and train. I park and ride.

Its cool, just plan to be late for wherever you're going.

Busses arent too great if youre outside the inner city. They often come late. Many busses have been rerouted to train stations so try to live near a station if possible. Always free parking at the stations.

How deep is this subway platform , oh gosh , it's like a bomb shelter LOL
@HOUExplorer3 жыл бұрын
120 feet (37 m) below. It's one of the deepest in North America.
@Csilva8573 жыл бұрын
@@HOUExplorer In Boston we have "Porter" station which is also strangely deep it's 105 ft (32m) below grade. however it's only one elevator ride down so you can see how far you're travelling. I wonder why this happens - it must be from uneven terrain above ground. Anyway I liked the video

I’ve been to the deepest station in Portland Oregon. Washington park station. 259 feet deep. It’s a long way down. That’s the deepest in North America.
@roachtoasties2 жыл бұрын
@@HOUExplorer I think it's slightly deeper than the L.A. Wilshire/Vermont Station. One difference is you can take a single escalator from street level to the lower level of the station.

Only underground subway station in the south? MARTA (in Atlanta) has had several for decades. We could even count several stations on the Virginia side of the Potomac in the DC area.

If you're going to have only one subway station in all of Texas, I see they decided it should be a deep one.

My abc affiliate wfaa has special program in 1996 called dart a ticket for ride and I thought Knox/Henderson station open but did not finish on time maybe part of new central development.

@HOUExplorer2 жыл бұрын
The current METRORail Green and Purple Lines were suppose to be an underground subway in Downtown Houston. I believe it was proposed around 2004. The Red Line was already opened in operational in 2004. The underground proposal plan was changed due to cost.

I would have build a 2 subways staton. 2.5 miles is too long of a gap
@HOUExplorer Жыл бұрын
In between the 2.5 miles, there is an incomplete station called Knox/Henderson Station. Sadly, the neighborhood in that area halted the nearly completed station.
@williamerazo3921 Жыл бұрын
@@HOUExplorer still would have build it. Or buy property around the neighborhood

Very interesting. What's up with those weird stairs IN the train car? Ive been on many metros and have never seen that. So does that mean these trains are not ADA compliant? One of the MANY underground stations on the LA Metro system, and one of three new ones that opened two months ago, is as deep as this one at 120 ft. However, it's accessible via 6 fast elevators. There is also a beautiful 60 ft tall mosaic in the elevator lobby. It's embarrassing that Dallas only has one subway station. Hopefully, they have more in the future, but don't make them so deep 😊

There is a wheelchair accessible area on every train that is level with the platform. There are also elevators at every non ground level station. The M line trolley is the only non accessible public transit in Dallas. Source: I’m a wheelchair user
