I think instead of having fishing harvesters on the inner side of the extended land, we should have the fish ponds and algae ponds. This would get rid of those torturous fishing routes through a narrow channel and be more realistic. The outer side can however continue with the fishing harbors.
@PaulMiles12 жыл бұрын
The fish farm throws a long tail away from the building though. The algae ponds would fit, but the fish farms, not so much, I think. But, real world, fishermen deal with less than ideal pier situations constantly. Maybe more realistic to jam a bunch of fishing vessels into a nook & cranny back in the ass end of a pier.

For the not enough buyers for fish: you may or may not have enough fish factories, but the real reason is that the docks had maxed out their available trucks. That tells me they are too slow to deliver, and the factories are too far. A small warehouse on the pier to provide extra vehicles would help.

I had a 200k+ city with huge traffic and many commercials importing goods and being abandoned before the goods arrived from outside or from the industrial areas. Somehow i read that IT cluster specialization offices produce goods and do not use cargo trucks to deliver. Added some IT, then more and more. Result: zero goods import and a lot less traffic overall. Apparently the goods made by IT are shipped "online" and instantly to the commercials and to the wharehouses. This discover is a lifechanger for very big cities. PS IT won't sell out of the city, they fill wharehouses and from there trucks sells out of the city (or to airports/trains/docks). So too many IT can cause problems. PPS Any building will use all its trucks to deliver the goods it has, if all the trucks take too much to come back the building/wharehouse will have the "not enought buyers" problem

Part of the problem with "Not enough goods" and other various city issues, dead bodies not being picked up etc, tend to start happening once the city hits around your current population. The game only has 65k citizen instances, along with other various hard limits due to how the game is coded, once limits start getting reached cities start going a little wacky, i.e I have a city with over 200k population, every time I load it up there's a random death wave that happens in the beginning then calms down after the game eventually sends out enough hearses to pick them up, the game isn't able to send out the full capacity of hearses due to the hard limits being reached.

Also, how are cars supposed to turn around at the end of the wharf with no small roundabout or curving of the road? Seems a bit unrealistic to expect cars and trucks to turn around at the end of a two lane road. Even still, really enjoyed this build! Keep it up, CPP! Always look forward to Tuesday’s!

Are bikes supposed to share the road with the large commercial trucks that are going to stream out of those fishing piers? Now I'm no city planner so what do I know, but the placement of this seems a bit odd.. Would the city really be so unreluctant to have this sort of industry, both smelly and unsightly in the downtown area? Also seeing how it takes away a large portion of the namesake beach, previously a more or less pristine location admired and utilized by a large number of residents and tourists. I'm curious how would this affect property values IRL? Surely the governing body of Verde Beach would have other more suited locations up for suggestion?
@CityPlannerPlays2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a fair point and it would depend on the personalities and desires of the elected officials of the city. At this point, I'd imagine that the supply chain issues would be a bigger pressure than the demands of the neighboring property owners or beach preservation for this segment of beach. That said, I'd imagine a group rising up in opposition of any changes to the beach with a hodge-podge of disparate parties (environmentalists, property owners, owners of the existing wharf, etc.) to oppose any additional development of the beachfront. How it would impact property values - I think for those directly adjacent it would have a negative impact. For industry and commercial - it would be a HUGE benefit. It'd also create all the fishing jobs, so it isn't as straight forward a decision as it might seem. Adding the tourism amenities would really muddle the water and bring hotel owners in support of the project, which is the primary reason it was added.

fish market. Make a small coastal village or neighbourhood that has a fish market. Make it a feature of the place, it brings in tourists and sells fish. Doesn't look great but it's fun to use if you want a fishing storyline

You could of tried a little bridge so the fishing boat could go though it, could be a fun asset. some cities have it.
