my teenage years were spent in Bern. the slow , soothing walk through the city brought tears to my eyes, I could just feel my sister next to me and both of us walking away and enjoying the beauty.the pace of the video made it so real and beautiful. keep it up,! !

I like the videos like this when they tell you where they are. And when they stop and let you see main sites and plaques long enough you can read the plaque and see the name of store they are passing. An occasional stop and brief chat with locals about what they think is most liked feature of their area and why. Also anything odd not seen much in usa is good to get a still pic of like busses or bikes they ride one on motorbike with passengers on side attachment. Sometimes I find this relieves boredom when staying in as a trip you are on and seeing things without going there during a social distancing reason to stay home. Just the sounds helps me fall asleep early.

I took this walk a while back. That river and those who sort of ride in it bobbing up and down, I've never seen anything like it. Loved the look at a peculiar past time of these Swiss people. Also, old or young, male or female, a black bikini seems to be the attire of the day (ha-ha). Just beautiful to walk along that river. Thanks.

Where did the river get that bright blue color from
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is from the glacial runoff but I’m not completely sure. - H

In Bern the Aare river is still loaded with minerals from the snow melt in the nearby Alps. The water is usually quite cold it rarely gets over 18 C, actually at 41'05" the guy say "Huere chaut!", which means f**ing cold. If you go upstream the water in the lake of Brienz (where the Aare river is flowing through) is even more turquoise and looks quite unreal. Downstream in Solothurn, where I live, the water of the Aare is much greener as the minerals have sedimented. In the winter time, when there is little water and no algae the water becomes completely transparent. Looking forward to the summer for swimming the Aare again. Urban swimming is a big thing in many big towns in Switzerland, e.g. in Zurich (Limmat), Geneva (Rhone) and Basel (Rhein).

Semi disgusting, seriously. If this is the idea of the Germanic people to have fun during summer, basically gathering in a park which looks like part of a city and taking their clothes off just to walk around aimlessly, many of them like really old guys and wearing bikini speedos, no thank you. I prefer an American or Caribbean beach, a resort in Vegas or Arizona. There were 25 degrees Celsius outside, not even that hot to justify this people to expose their turkey white bodies
