I like how Ursa chose an extra two faith per city which is negligible when compared to the wood’s faith instead of getting religious colonization.

People really do love religious colonisation 😂😂😂 Trust me new cities take 1 charge with a missionary to convert. The +2 faith per city adds up to waaaaaaaaaay more faith across the game AND you'll see later in this run why having faith by the bucket is worth it!! Ignore the temptation people of a small spread win! Use the missionaries, spread manually! It's so worth it!!

Tithe (religious civs tend to struggle for gold) or cross-cultural dialogue (expected high pop and science is lacking compared to other stats) seem much stronger than colonization, which is effectively a small increase to faith output

@@UrsaRyan I think you're neglecting to account for opportunity costs. Every time you spend faith on a missionary, it's a settler you could be buying with monumentality, or in Boudicca's case, druids, who you need to plant woods. This was actually a game where feed the world/religious colonization was the clear choice. That 12 production on your holy site with work ethic will never scale for the rest of the game; it will always give you 12 production. If you take feed the world, you could blanket the entire map with giant cities that are working endless lumber mills with extra faith and culture on them. Then you can simply pick either the science per 4 pop or the culture per 4 pop, and win whatever way you choose.

@@UrsaRyanreligious colonization isn’t always the greatest, but it has some useful benefits: - you can steal settlers away from home on larger maps (or capture a city and buy one) and start a forward base for religious spread - useful late game with hic sunt dracones, bear’s governors, or when dealing with cities with fast growth - can convert neighbors early on and then all of their cities will also spawn with your religion - religious spread early means a higher percentage will follow the religion at high pop (useful for beliefs that give bonuses based on number of followers) - without it, missionaries will have to travel far if/when you settler spam if you’re buying them out of the new cities - plus the stuff others have covered like opportunity cost I think it comes down to your other religious beliefs and how much conquest you plan on taking part in

This Druid unit is pretty neat! I build a Guru in maybe 5% of my games and even then there are dozens of other ways I’d prefer to use my faith. This is the kind of Guru that you actively want to build. Great to see the Queen back in action!

Hm... Since the unique holy sites don't remove the woods, couldn't you do a funny little triangle where you place them all next to each other for bonus adjacency? Though, it would mess up the tile yields... Maybe I need to think of them as a cross between a Preserve, Encampment, and Holy site...

I wonder if the reason that clearing the barb camp gave you 2 pop instead of 1 is because you were playing on barb clans mode. Iirc clearing a barb camp when you have clans gives you a eureka or inspiration, right? If that boost is coded to just act like it's a tribal village that rolled the eureka loot then maybe the game thinks you've cleared both a barb camp and a goodie hut?
