WHAT ARE 3D FACES. I created autocad surfaces from the 3sided polylines. I want to trurn the to civil 3d surface. but add drawing objects from 3d faces dont recognize it.

Hi All, I am working on one file that I got outside this course. It is an Autocad drawing, which I guess used to be a CIVIL 3D. It has all the elevations (txt), points (with E,N, & Elev) and contour lines. I am trying to follow the exercises in the course and generate the surface. I tried two methods: M1. Converting the standard points into COGO points, than creating the surface. M2. Unhiding the zz Ground Surface Layer Tin and creating the surface from the Drawing objects (lines or 3D Faces). Can anyone help me figure out the issue, since the civil 3D refuses to pick up the elements from which to build the surface? Thank you all!
