What is Civil Engineering?
Ans: Civil Engineering deals & involves in the design, construction, supervise, maintain & operate infrastructure projects like roads, tunnels, bridges, canals, dams, airports, buildings, railways, sewerage systems & pipelines etc.
Minimum number & dia. of Bar in column as per IS 456 : 2000
Ans : As per IS 456 the minimum number of bar in square & rectangle column is 4 and in Circular column is 6. The minimum dia. of bar is 12 mm
How many days curing is done?
Ans : As per Is 456 : 2000,
Minimum 7 days curing is done for normal weather condition
Minimum 10 days curing is done for dry and hot weather conditions
For the concrete containing Portland Pozzolana cement (PPC), period of curing may be increased.
What is the minimum cover in the RCC Members?
Ans: Footing 50 mm
Column 40 mm
Slab 20 mm
Beam 25 mm
Minimum Cement content in M-25
Ans: 300 kg/cum as per IS 456
Percentage of steel in column
Ans: Minimum 0.8 %
Maximum 6%
But generally not more than 4% due to practical difficulty in placing of concrete unless otherwise self compacting concrete is used.
Concrete Cube is to be filled in how many layers?
Ans : Concrete Cube is filled in 3 layers.
Slump Cone is to be filled in how many layers?
Ans : Slump Cone is filled in 4 layers.
What is the Quantity of Steel per Square feet in High rise Buildings?
Ans: Approximate 6 kg/Sqft of Built-up area.
Number of Bricks for One Cum wall including wastage?
Ans : 496 Bricks
Number of Bricks for One Sqm of 4.5” wall including wastage?
Ans : 56 Bricks
How much Binding wire is used for binding for one MT reinforcement?
Ans : 10-12 kg
What is TMT?
Ans: Thermo Mechanically Treated
What is the formula to calculate weight of steel?
Ans: =d^2/162.27
What is the formula to calculate volume of trapezoidal footing?
Ans: V=h/3{A1+A2+√A1xA2}
Maximum Silt Content can be allowed in Fine Aggregate?
Ans: Silt content should not be more than 8%
Stripping time of Formwork for Column
Ans: 16 to 24 hour
Deduction rule in Concrete Measurement.
Ans: No deduction will be made for opening upto 0.1 sqm
Deduction rule in Shuttering Measurement.
Ans: No deduction will be made for opening upto 0.4 sqm
Deduction rule in Plaster Measurement.
Ans: For opening upto 0.5 sqm - No deduction
for opening above 0.5 sqm and upto 3 Sqm 50% deduction
for Opening above 3 sqm 100% deduction but jambs & soffits will be added
