Civil Service v NUFC Oilers. 14-09-2024. Southern Amateur League - Division One.

NUFC Oilers was founded by alumni of Nottingham University about ten years ago. Don't know where the Oilers bit comes from.They joined the Southern Amateur League senior third division and rose quickly. They used to play on one of the pitches adjoining Barnet Football Club but they're now based less than a mile from Civil Service, on an artificial pitch in Chiswick down the same road as Polytechnic Football Club (Hartington Road). For the record, there's another team with links to Nottingham University in the Southern Amateur League, perennial title chasers Nottsborough (who play in Tolworth), who were founded by alumni of both Nottingham and Loughborough Universities, hence the team's name.

@@EddieHutchinson-jm9zc interesting stuff mate, thanks. I believe Oilers play at the Quintin Hogg memorial ground, which is, as you say, very near to Civil Service FC. I'm hoping to get there for a game before Christmas as I've yet to see a game there.

@@stevenbullard4181 There's an electronic scoreboard in team colours, some uncovered seating, and a decent if slightly pricey (but it IS Chiswick) fast food cabin 100 yards from the pitch. Beware if driving there, though, as it's one of those 'pay by phone and debit card' jobs.

What do you reckon for the disallowed goal Steven - foul on the keeper or a bit soft?

He seemed to knock into the keeper slightly. Soft, but still an infringement. Last 20 to 30 years they have always given a foul for similar.
