In Hitler’s final days he had endless breakdowns, blaming his generals for military failures, yet even when he made the decision to end his life he continued to tell his men that there were plans to turn the tides of war. There obviously were none. It’s likely a coping mechanism where if they continued to tell themselves and others they are in the stages of victory, then defeat wouldn’t have a hard impact when it hits.

I thonk in the movie its stated that the rebels weren't defeated but stalled cause their supply lines got raided, pushing the attack off a few weeks. I think thats the "stragetic" victory he's talking about.

I think one of the main purposes of the film is that once a civil war starts (or any war), it doesn't really matter why it started. Atrocities and chaos will happen. Both sides think they are right and will do everything within their power to win.
@g.h.milanboseblut56163 ай бұрын
I can see you never were in Civil War. It is VERY important who started it, and we always know who did (it's always the one psychotically claiming they didnt even tho theres OVERsubstantial and palpable evidence), like Serbia and Russia genociders for example. Psychotically paranoically thinking someone attacks them, so they "preemptively defended themselves first" 😅😅

We’ve seen what happens to the people that lose civil wars. Not pretty. Ironically, the American Civil War was one of the most humanely fought civil wars in recorded history. The few breaches of conduct, are pretty well known (Ft. Pillow, the Occupation of New Orleans) and when the war ended only a few members of the losing side’s political class were kept as prisoners. It’s almost certainly because it wasn’t a traditional civil war, more a failed war of independence for the Confederate States.
@ProtossExecutor1003 ай бұрын
The sniper scene conveys this in a very simplistic way. In a civil war, the politics don't matter because you don't have a say or part in them. All that matters is the war and chaos living around you and surviving in it.
@systemG30003 ай бұрын
here's a hot tip for you, the side that subverted law and oppressed people is the bad guys and no, they aren't right, and both sides are not the same. I suppose you would have thought hitler and the jews were "both right". Bad take. You should delete your comment.

Anyone noticed how the american flag is all wrinkly and uncared for at 1:17 almost as an image of the States in the movie
@pubefaceIV3 ай бұрын
Good eye! In the movie there’s a part that sais the president is in his third term, disbanded the fbi, and approved drone strikes on American citizens. One thing that isn’t accurate is that he would not refer to them as the people of Texas or California. That goes against rule 1 of propaganda. He would call them terrorists or insurrectionists. He would want to leave room for reconciliation. Calling them out as a state achieves the opposite.
@KNIGHT.COMPANY2 ай бұрын
He's trying to seem appealing to the people (citizens) friendly almost. Calling them terrorists/insurrectionists would appear as if he wants to kill them all. It's a trick.
@ThePooper300011 күн бұрын
Wait, how exactly would calling people terrorists and insurrectionists leave room for reconciliation?
@jeffbo8748Күн бұрын
It’s a hollow attempt at appearing reasonable. He’s speaking to the citizens of those states and calling on them to overthrow their secessionist governments, promising them safety from reprisals in return. You see it all the time where leaders try to convince the enemy’s civilian population that they have their interests at heart more than their own governments. I doubt it’s any more than a facade and that his military would rarely distinguish between civilians and soldiers, as again, that happens all the time, sadly.

It's a shame that the film doesn't shed light on the global political consequences of an American civil war. How would China, Russia, Iran and North Korea react in such a case? Would they take advantage of the weakness and confusion of the US military and invade their neighbors? Would they perhaps even attack the USA? That would be worth its own film.

And Poland would never be in an alliance with Sweden... Right? Or russia being in an economic pseudo-military alliance with Persia. Americans tend to overemphasize the tiny similarities between your states to an extreme degree. To a non-american, Texas and California are both predominantly Christian and white, obscenely wealthy (Texas gdp comparable to Africa, Cali gdp higher than India), economically centre-right, socially progressive (yes even Texas is if you compare it to almost any other nation in the planet, more people support gay marriage than in Eastern Europe e.g) states. That and the "standing against an authoritarian oppressor in Washington" is pretty American for me.

Trust me, we’re very close to another US Civil War. Do you know how bad things are politically right now or close to a Trump dictatorship also

When the camera focuses on 0:16 that’s when I knew this movie was about to be fire

You should review the novel Down Here in the Warmth by Euel Arden. It's about a race riot in New York City that leads to civil unrest. A Michigan militia thinks that it can jump start a civil war by heading to NYC after the riot. It has a lot of hidden stuff like how the media is manipulating the population to be at each others throats. It's a beautiful book, that tells the entire thing from every point of view. It doesn't resort to cliches either. Trigger warning for sure.

This movie was great lol the only thing is the fact that they put TEXAS in an alliance with California against President Trump Swanson is extremely unrealistic. Whoever wrote that is probably from LA and wanted to use Texas to make California look tough lol

no they did it to not incite further division, also texas eats shit compared to california lol

Still don’t know what this president did wrong.

Apparently he was "elected" for a third term (which is banned in the constitution since FDR) and he dissolved the FBI
@rv21673 ай бұрын
it is discussed quite a bit - removing the FBI suggesting he did a lot of illegal things, using air strikes against Americans he didn't like,

I think that’s part of it, that at the end of the day is up to viewer interpretation to come up with your backstory or scenario for how things ended up the way they day while giving you the cautionary tale of how terrible wars and civil wars in particular can be.

This President apparently ran for a third term in office, which was in violation of the Constitution. Its mentioned when the reporters are discussing on what they'll ask the president when they got to DC

Third term self declaration, Disbanding of the FBI, air strikes on civilians. That’s to name a few that we know of.
