The knife hand guard and ramrod thimble are my favorite finds! I like the glass shards displayed in the Mason jar. The broken bottles and jugs that are partially put back together look really cool in your display case. They have more "character" than the unbroken. That ginger beer that your Dad found is especially nice.
@thebattlefieldwalker2841Ай бұрын
Thank you Swamp! I enjoy hearing what you and others find interesting. On some level, I agree about the broken bottles having more character. The Ginger beer is special to me because . . . my Mom was not a huge fan of my Dad's relics. She appreciated them for what they were, but she preferred he "contain" them in his relic room. For some reason (and I'll never know why) she either displayed, or allowed my dad to display that Ginger beer bottle prominently in our dining room. I cannot remember a time when that repaired bottle wasn't on a shelf in the dining room.

Walker , have you invented a time machine? As a old hunter of Cold Harbor this quantity of finds remained me of the late 1980’s - early 1990’s. Well done my friend. You sure have a knack for hunting that most hallowed place. Good job and keep up the great videos.
@thebattlefieldwalker2841Ай бұрын
George, so great to speak to another guy who loves Cold Harbor. Did you hunt with David Young or Bobby Wilson? Do you recognize the names Eugene Bosher or Culley? (Don't know his first name). And of course Gary Williams, but he was 60s and 70s as was my dad. I am inspired when I'm on that ground. I've instructed that my ashes be scattered in Cold Harbor! Hopefully on the Adams farm or Watt House Hill!
@georgegaylordАй бұрын
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 Walker , I had the pleasure of hunting with Gary Williams, Mac Mason, Pete George, and once with Tom Dickey. It was great for a 28 year old I learned so much and loved the Adams Farm. Even found a 24# C S ball at Boatswain Creek. Cold Harbor was my Senior Paper topic in History and I fell in love with the place and the people. Even ate lunch a few times at Goulding’s store off of 156. Any way I get long winded but thanks for the great videos. I don’t get around like I once did but try snd get out a few times a year . All the best my friend and God bless. George
@thebattlefieldwalker2841Ай бұрын
@@georgegaylord That's cool George! Didn't know Tom Dickey, and only met Pete George in the last couple of years. But Mac was a personal friend of the family. How about Sam McLaren? He was a close friend as well...
@georgegaylordАй бұрын
@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 I met Sam a few times as well as a guy , forgive me ,Harry P. And of course My Lyle. He was a cool man we use to bring him apples and bologna and he would sit in front of his trailer and tell us stories of buckets of bullets and twenty -thirty plates in a day. Said it would rain and on top of the trenches would be gold gilt every so often from the buttons. I still have a coat and cuff Massachusetts he picked up out of the garden in 1959, the year I was born. Lots of characters in those days and of course I know Jerry Simmons. He has always been straight with me . He speaks very highly of you. It’s funny now we use to find so many bullets and fragments we gave them away when we did history talks to school group’s.

@@thebattlefieldwalker2841 I forgot one November during the Central Virginia Remus show Mac had a bunch of friends over to his and his wife’s house. Tried to teach me to play the saw but it just wouldn’t take .I know we have walked some of the same properties but I bet we were in the same room and never even knew it. Funny how the world works .

A good day hunting, Walker ! I understand the 64 year old body and its limits .LOL, I'M wearing one myself. Funny and all serious relic hunters always do. Standing in the woods or field light fading long day hunting. We say to ourselves. I am done ! I'm heading back to the truck ! And an hour later, we are still hunting because we found something more than a bullet. 😂 Totally running on Adrenalin waiting for the cramps in my hands to stop so I can dig one more signal ! God Bless Walker

Boy you are killing it at that farm. You mentioned something in your last video that made me think back to this field I hunt outside Richmond that was used by Union Calvary. Most of the bullets are super deep, but at times, depending on the weather I can do just like you, they are everywhere. I'm convinced that atmospheric pressure has something to do with it. Happens with my Deus and the Equinox as well. Anyway, congrats on some beautiful bullets. Never get tired of digging them. Hope you have a good year Walker, you put out some fine content for us old heads...lol
@thebattlefieldwalker2841Ай бұрын
Glad to connect with other "Old Heads" Gary! Two months ago, I would have said you were crazy. I thought damp soil is better but that was it. But these hunts were dry as a BONE. Now I think that atmospheric conditions thing might have some merit! Whatever it is, I was amazed!

Appreciate that John-from-across-the-pond! I always am intrigued that at least half the buttons I find can either be positively identified as being made in England, or were "likely" manufactured in England. The fact that some of them were delivered by the skin of a captain's teeth on a blockade runner, just adds more drama to their history!
