Major Isaac C. Hart enlisted in the Union Army on April 16th, 1861. During the last year and a half of the war, Hart volunteered to serve with the U.S. Colored Troops 2nd Cavalry Regiment, an all-Black unit. A cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio, found an urn containing Hart’s cremated remains. The urn had been unclaimed since his death in 1913. In front of about 17 people, Major Hart was laid to rest among his fellow service members.

fought for our civil rights? stop letting the government mind control you on thinking the union and abe lincoln were so innocent and only wanted to free slaves. they didn’t care, abe lincoln had to be convinced to let the slaves free, slavery in the north wasn’t even technically illegal either just wasn’t as common as the south, and the south only had 2% of slave owners

Right?! I was thinking that too. So his family abandoned his remains back then. But now the family is collecting the remains. Unless his family at the time didn't know he was left there. But sounds kinda odd. And if his family did know back then & just abandoned him. Because of the controversy around his service. And then now that it's acceptable... his family NOW has honored him & collected his remains. Almost like they just go with what's popular opinions at the times... in some ways.

Robert E Lee probably wouldn’t be happy either but more embarrassed. He accepted defeat far more graciously than people who didn’t fight in the war then or now.
