People do actually "relate" easier with doing it this way. Because it`s so normal to see portrations of people being murdered in video games and movies, so a couple of figures on a board is not going to make much diefference. While recreating it with cats is not something you`ve seen before, so to assess the situation you create a simulation in your head. Symbolism is easier to get related to, because since it`s you who do the connection through the metaphor it gets more personal.
