Hello viewers!! This is the part-2 series of staircase design. In this video i have explained in detail about structural support system of staircase with examples and design of longitudinally supported dog legged staircase with reinforcement detailing as per SP-34.

Which one is ideal case. Providing beam at just end of going or at the end of landing. What dictates where the beam is to be present?

Mam, Your video is excellent. But I have a silly doubt about construction of staircase. 1. When we make waist slab of RCC and steps with bricks then what will be the width of mid landing? 2. Do we actually make last step with bricks or rcc (as 10th step in example)?

Good explanation...when calculating dead load for floor finish have u considered the unit weight of marble or granite? marble density 26KN/M3..this may enhance the dead load finally the bending moment

architects always ask for slim structures. so the thickness is very high. it s unwantedly increasing self weight. Also you take advantage of steps.to reduce thickness.

could you please elaborate waist slab thickness in figure on 19.39....?? I think when we say waist slab thickness its actually thickness created by waist slab only not riser.....

excellent video. but it can be further improved by explaing the idealisation and also bringing BM,SF,deflection concepts with every explanation . Detailing should be given more importance along with BM. Common mistakes done in respective calculation should be brought out . some #D views are excellent . in this case the behaviour of spandrel is not explained. what are its end condition . how is its behavour .. this beam appears to be resting on masonry. you should speak some thing about this also.

Shouldn't you model that staircase as an angled beam and not a straight beam?

mostly stair are designed as simply supported. But you have not explained .how to use compression steel . what are the calculation . IS code clause should appear with calculation

Effective spans are wrong (C)Landing in same direction as slab= c to c of wall or beam (B) spanning on edge of landing slab with span parallel with riser= going +x+y or going+1+1 (whichever is smaller )

distributor bars provided along with main bar to resist temperature, shrinkage stress,cracks and also it provide support to tie main reinforcement as a mesh.

The load acting on the slab is found for an inclined width and which is converted to horizontal length.

Sqrt(R^2+T^2)/T is 1/Cosθ(θ being the inclination of the waist slab to the horizontal).

You have taken lot effort to explain staircase I appriciate pains taken to explain When I was in service I had arranged classes as well STAD PRO classes .
