Civilization 6 Tutorial: Placing and Settling Your First City!

21:30 Hey, you probably know this by now, but I wanted to explain why plains hill settles are (2,2). Your standard city is a (2,1 - food, production) tile: the city will make the tile at least (2,1). However, if the tile that you settle on is already better than (2,1), the city will not downgrade it. Example, if the tile is (3,1), the city will be (3,1), as this is greater than or equal to the (2,1) minimum. If the tile is 2,1,1 science, the city will be the same. Plains hills (no woods) is a (1,2) tile, so the 1 food will be upgraded to 2 (city minimum), but the 2 production will remain, thus (2,2) city. Also, the reason a grassland hills with rainforest (2,2) is only a (2,1), is because when you place a city, it removes the rainforest/woods. Therefore that grassland hills with rainforest, goes down to a base grassland hills (2,1), thus the city is 2,1. Final example - deer with woods (1,3). Settling removes the woods, so (1,3) -> (1,2). Now the city yields must be at least (2,1), so settling on the deer will lead to a (2,2) city (2 food from city minimum yields, 2 production from the benefits of the original deer tile). Hope this makes sense.

13:09 pretty much right as I’m watching this I spawned in and there was 3 silver tiles near me. I moved over one and settled my 1st city on the silver and it has 2 food, 1 production and 3 gold. Not to mention I’m getting a silver per turn on turn 1.

@@stephenandrus4989 I think it runs just fine, there are no problems I can think of. I'm sure the graphics are not as good as on PC and there could be some other differences I'm not aware of. I have not played it on the PC.

Gday VB , i have a question im not sure if you touched on it sometimes i need to watch tutorials a few times b4 stuff sinks into my caveman noggin but the thing i am still curious about is besdies Luxary & Bonus resources which you showed are not deleted can you settle other resource types like Strategic etc without them being deleted ?

Inversely the moutains offer good protection, especially with the shape and location of the river next to the city and what seems to be a river to the east, you're almost totally protected with terrain. with the geothermal fissure leading into a sort of kill zone for city archers that would be a nasty city to try and take very early.
