I'm so glad you do videos like this. sometimes the books can be hard to keep up with. Great quality as well.

Great video! Seems to me like the Lyseni admiral was Sharako Lohar & his rival was Lysandro Rogare, & it wasn't just over Johanna Swann (who went on to rule Lys in all but name through her association with the Rogare family & their Bank), but also custody of Prince Viserys. And Racallio Ryndoon buggered off to the Stepstones with much of Tyrosh's remaining naval strength, to become a pirate, before getting an Oakenfist clout in the ear.

In the Westerlands. Their magical variants (similar to wolves and direwolves) are probably extinct, as mentioned by the child of the forest (forgot her name) when she told Bran how there was no more place in the world for the original magical inhabitants of Westeros.
@silasnai22902 жыл бұрын
I had this question too. Lions probably crossed the arm of Dorne or were brought over from parts of Essos or the summer isles. European countries used lions on their sigils so a medieval fantasy lord would probably find them sick too.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. How does George R.R Martin come up with this all?
@YinYangLogo7 жыл бұрын
A lot of the story is based off of British History. Hell even the map is based off of the UK. But I agree that this stuff is VERY extensive, though he has had a lot of time to develop the stories.
@Luclv7 жыл бұрын
It's based on real world conflicts and politics, the Italian City-States really comes to mind. Fiction is based off reality, the middle ages are a really fertile chunk of history to dig in for inspiration. The parallels are many. We can even make a comparison to the Fall of Rome when we talk about the Doom of Valyria.
@MrMarinus187 жыл бұрын
time.
@Conorp777 жыл бұрын
Dude let me spell it out for you First Men = Celts/Romans The Wall = Hadrians Wall Andals = Anglo Saxons 7 Andal Kingdoms = 7 Anglo Saxon Kingdoms Aegon the Conqueror = William the Conqueror and as you say, War of the Roses, Richard Duke of York attempting to seize the crown from Henry VI 'The Mad King' (and as some one above me mentioned, Valyria and it's similarity to Rome both geographically and in terms of power/influence. How did you not see this? It's literally from Martin's own mouth too that Britain and it's relationship with Europe/Asia is his main source of historical inspiration, with the obvious inclusion of high stakes fantasy elements.

I just Wanna say youre a legend you have explained so much for me in LOTR. But I have a question what's the between Maiar and ainur?
@CivilizationEx8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And to answer your question there is no difference. Ainur is the name of their species, before the creation of the world, the Ainur lived with god in the timeless halls. But then when the world was created, some the Ainur went into the world. Those that were most powerful became known as the Valar. While those of less power were called the Maiar. So they are all of the species Ainur, but they were divided into 2 classes when they came into the world. :)

Great video, thanks for all the work, you have a great voice, I have a question a little off topic... What about "the Old Bear's" crow? I think there is something about the "mocking Crow", could Cold Hands, a Wildling or a "child of the forest", one of the "White Walkers" wag in to the crow? The crow seems to be around when things happen and it seems to be just coincidence, but isn't that the behavior of a hero or spy? I think there is something there, small but important.

@dagassmith16228 жыл бұрын
I'd live in Oldtown, Arbor, or maybe Highgarden. My God is the Reach a real estate hotspot
@madijeis43208 жыл бұрын
Probably because it's the biggest food producer of Westeros, meaning that food probably is cheaper than anywhere else, and the fact that the most recent battle fought in the Reach was the battle of Ashford, that is even on the border. Basically, you won't die quickly and violently there.

i would not wanna live in westeros at all (maybe dorne as the exception). probably the summer isles or qarth or lys
@Kunumbah18 жыл бұрын
kwadwo baidoo So you would want to live in Qarth which is currently being sacked by Various dothrahki hordes? Or The summer isles where the princes sell their people into slavery and are constantly warring with one another? Dorne sounds pretty cool but I feel like it'd be hard fitting in other kingdoms. Lys sounds like paradise if you have enough money.

@corlysvelaryon32538 жыл бұрын
The Disputed Lands aren't wasted. There would be no logic to fighting over them if they were. They're extremely arable lands, it's just all the warring means they don't have the stability to output as much as they could. racefortheironthrone.tumblr.com/post/153474415876/maester-steven-regarding-the-free-cities-how-do
