Yezidi Community in Armenia Celebrates New Year

On April13, Yezidis in Armenia celebrated Serê Sal, which marks the first day of the Yezidi calendar.
Thousands of people from the community gathered in their Quba Mere Diwane temple in Aknalich, Armavir Province, to honor angel Tawusi Melek’s descent to earth.

The practice of using Lighted Diya , the putting of tika on forehead , the temple shape ,all is similar to Hindu rites

In India we also celebrated Hindu year at the same date 13 April in 2021. There are lots of similarities between Yazidi and Hindu religion but unfortunately we are not connected or close enough to share our ancient knowledge.

Armenians, Kurds and Persians changed their religions while Yezidis continue their belief for several millennium despite the prosecutions and genocide from all sides. I also understand your point of view, because everyone will look the same to you. When I went to Asia first time, I could not differentiate nations as well. Everyone looked the same to me. But later slowly I start seeing the differences between Korean and Japanese. or Thai from Laotian. Etc. It is the same thing :)
