I commend your effort to give young engineers quick fix. But please note that the higher you go, the lower the load (as the foundation then the ground floor carries the bulk of the load). So without analysis or design, the size of your columns and area of reinforcements should reduce as you ascend using "rule of thumb".

Sir... Is it ok if use 9x15" Columns for G+2 with all six 16 mm bars ???
@ravichandral84393 жыл бұрын
I'm having a doubt as you said is it correct to put on weight at top floors like g+3 with 16mm of 6 rods and using weak 9mm rods on ground g floor I think it gives pressure on the building ground floor due to weight on top please explain

what i understand this video guide builder for choosing column size and rebar for typical house construction, which is base on typical normal dead load and live load related to the house, its does't matter how big the house eg; 1000sqft or 2000sqft just follow the column distance and follow the size and rebar, it still safe within that parameter, another word, it easy guide line for diy house build. and i consider u chooses the size of column base on maximum load.

Never take steel bars of diameter less than 16mm for more than 1 story building. You can have 2 bars of 12mm out of 6 bars column of 9×12 between two bars of 16mm at widest distance side.

Kindly please discuss the maximum column distance. TYVM
@CivilTutor3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of your structure and the various loads acting on it. If it is a high rise building, How strong are the winds there? What is the size of your columns, grade of concrete used and if the site lies in a seismic zone. As per thumb rule, a span of up to 6meters is quite safe and economical for small constructions i.e. up to G+3 storey buildings.

Thanks for the immediate response you have given, your videos are educational as well . Can you please make a video for the step by step installation of FOOTING, COLUMN, & FLINT BEAM ? TYVM

6 columns at 15x14feet (14 feet along the 20 feet side of the plot) and use the remaining 6 feet for stairwell and balcony on cantilever beams and slab, if you wanna build multi storey.

Sir, I have 10"/10" columns with 12' span . Beam size 10"/8" (b/h) + 5" slab . beams are (4+2) of 16mm 4 No's + 12mm 2nos bars. I have gone for 6' cantilever expansion and over it complete cover construction of (6") wall with window & all. At the end of expansion there is a hanging scartain of 30" height ( 4.5" thick). And a balcony of 7'/11' in the middle portion. The building has completed 20 years Gf & 8 years 1st floor. The size of the building is roughly 44 / 47'. Sir will it be safe . please advice.
