I bought the same model and I love it. Good centering, nice and sharp and great action. Tiny bit of lock stick that worked right in. I'm thrilled with my purchase and this is my third Civivi. Great quality for the money. Pleasantly surprised.

I have this same knife and it’s my favorite out if over fifty here for EDC. It’s more than I need for an EDC but it feels so ‘right’ in my hand it keeps sneaking into my pocket. Pet peeve: I don’t view this or any of my other knives as fidget toys. I treat them and use them as knives…with which to cut stuff. About half of the nimrod reviewers out there only cover how well a knife fidgets as opposed to how well it works in the field and in camp. Serious lack of service to we viewers and no real understanding of what a knife really is. Anyway, I find this one brilliant in every regard. Thanks for a good job here Mr Beater. ‘Preciate it.

The fuller and flipper tab is my favorite deployment method. This blade is so big, you can feel the weight on it. I wasn’t expecting it to be that much different with the nitro V vs. 14c28n on the Cogent. Nice review. 👍

Haha. Thanks Jay. That first attempt at the flipper made me laugh out loud. I needed that. Anyhoo..you ALWAYS hit the notes I'm looking for in a review. Love the blade shape on this knife and the fuller is an excellent addition. Was going to buy the knife anyway but always look forward to your opinion before I do. Keep on rockin.

I have the Altus and did not realize this one was that much bigger! I had been looking at it wondering why I should buy it since it looks so close to my Altus and We Subjugator. Some day I will start reading the specs on a knife instead of just looking at the pictures.

I’ve noticed on mine when I use the button to deploy, it doesn’t stick as bad. Maybe it just doesn’t lock in as hard as it does when you use the fuller or flipper

Cogent was my favorite button lock until this came out. Such a great design and Civivi made it great. Detent perfect, blade so useful. Altus a excellent knife just a little small for my paws.

I have the same question. Does the civivi Damascus scratch easily and lose it's cosmetic look?

This damascus is composed of 2 steels: 10Cr15CoMoV and 9Cr18MoV per civivi info i was able to find by simply googling it. These are both readily found as knife blade steels, so i would imagine you can find out the scratchability by looking at knives made of those separate steels

I have a Dragonfly in K390 I agree that steel is fantastic dare I say a super steel. I picked up the same one, I can spydie flick it and thumb it open. They did a great job.

Dare to say a super steel? K390 is a super steel in every sense of the word... it's one of the most wear resistant tool steels on the pocket knife industry, has edge retention that rivals all but the baddest ass super high RC tool steels, spyderco takes their K390 to 65-66 (typically tests in that range), m4 is a super steel without a doubt and K390 is more wear resistant then M4, can be taken 1 to 1.5 hrc higher then M4 while keeping its edge stability. K390 is a bad ass steel that is super without a doubt. K390 has another ace up the sleeve and that is that it take an edge very much like cru wear, meaning it takes a mighty fine ULTRA crisp razor edge and holds on to that fine edge very well like cru wear does. The difference is that cru wear has great upfront edge holding ability and holds that crisp fine edge very well but doesn't hold a working edge very long so once you loose the fine edge it goes flat quick however K390 holds that crisp fine edge very well and also holds its working edge for a insanely long amount of time. K390 is an amazing steel and is one of my top 5 favs. K390 is one of very few ultra wear resistant high precormance tool steels that does really well with any edge finish yoy want to run (most of those type steels don't like to be taken to a really high grit edge and do much the best in the 400 to 1000 grit range) from a super toothy 240 grit edge up to a full bright mirror 12,000 grit edge and anywhere between. My Bento Box k390 PM2 is wearing a full mirror 16k grit edge I did last with on my Shapton pro stones. It's still got bite/tooth and will tree top a free hanging hair WITH the grain (it takes a sharp knife to whittle and tree top hair against the grain but it takes a Fing sharp knife to whittle and tree top hair with the grain). The only other uber tool steel that does well with extremely high grit finishes and doesn't get slick/glassy edges is Rex45 and ZDP189, I don't care of ZDP189 a whole lot buy Rex45 at 66 to 67hrc is my number 3 steel. My K390 DF2 wears a DMT 25 micron edge finish and stropped on 15 micron diamond emulsion loaded hard leather. This is an amazing user edge on such a small knife that turns it in to a card board spreading monster. Super toothy edge that grabs and bites in to anything you cut with it and does so for a VERY long amount of time. When it falls off about 5 to 10 strokes per side on 15 micron diamond loaded strop and the toothy razor edge is right back to near off the stones sharp and your ready to cut another 700 feet of card board with that little blade. K390 also has a lot of edge stability so dropping it down to a 14 to 15dps secondary bevel is perfect, I personally run my DF2 at 12.5dps and run my police 4 K390 at 14dps with the same edge finish these are two knives I carry a lot, the DF2 is my Keychain knife and literally is with me everyday and sees more use per month them any other knife I own by a long shot.

To this end and based on your vast knowledge, if you could ONLY HAVE THREE knives with ONE having a blade length of less than 3 inches and the other two of any size, type or configuration, which three would you choose and why? Great looking knife. I'm stuck between the Altus and this one. I "need" to get one of them and I do favor the smaller knives right now. But the Conspirator just looks SO good.

I do like that one the blade shape is outstanding. However the Damascus steel is a little overwhelming for my taste. This knife covers requirements that I like to have with flipper and a button lock. It's not very common to find a flipper with a button lock.

Wow it looks amazing Jay! Enjoy it. I was between that one and the Honoris in damascus. I went with the Honoris as it was a bit more budget friendly and I’m accustomed to liner locks. Having never had a damascus blade I have to ask you: do they scratch or damage easily? They look so beautiful I don’t want to ruin it. Thanks for sharing your videos and knowledge!

Ok.. Mine was a total lemon. Came out of the box extremely uncentered, and when I went to adjust the pivot, it stripped like its rent was due. Garbage knife.
