Definitely the CIVIVI version of the Ziffius. I have the Ziffius. #1 knife in my collection now.

It’s a good one. It’s really good actually . My pivot was tight at first but after cracking it , closes so nice with a good sound . There wasn’t any carbides on the edge after finishing with a ceramic stone . Sometimes the big d2 carbides look like little balls on an edge in my experiences . Their probably good to have for toothiness and cutting performance but I prefer a smooth cutting toothy edge . I only go to 600 grit anymore

This one needed a little tuning on the edge as well but it's razor sharp after a few passes.

Mine has a plunge lock that's full of grease. Thinking of disassembling, cleaning and relubing it but I'm afraid removing that grease would cause lock stick. Does yours came with greasy plunge lock?
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
Wasn't aware that this came in a plunge lock, I'll have to check it out. This button lock version is disassembled in the video.
@Jethrospect Жыл бұрын
@@DiscerningMan my bad! I meant the actual part of the button lock that's touching the blade, some call it plunge, it was full of grease.
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
Oh Ok, cool. I'm not much for the grease, I disassemble and clean my knives so I get rid of it and apply light oil with a few exceptions.@@Jethrospect

I just purchased my first Civivi. Not a cool one like this but their basic looking model the Elementum

I've heard it said that the elementum is THE every man knife.

Does the blade swing heavier on the ziffius or the same weight on the blade do you think 💭? Thanks DM
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
I think the Ziffius, mind I only handled it for a few seconds, but it appeared to be a next level piece and noticeably... uh, better. Is it almost $300 better,... well, that will be the question.
@Hungrybird474 Жыл бұрын
@@DiscerningMan everyone likes it . I missed out . I do like the $75 version though a lot . After a couple days it’s dropping nicely 👍. Have a great week bro .

You edited out a large portion of the re-assembly. Why? Did you have trouble putting it back together?
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
No, no nothing like that, if you''ll notice there were 3 or 4 edits in this video, my cadence was way off, I was pretty under the weather and on medication for a lung infection, not sleeping, etc... I shouldn't have been doing video, but it's my relax space, checking in knives,... I think the original video was close to 40min, so then in the same state, I decided to do some editing,.. I'm still short winded but overall, i think I'm on the mend so hopefully no more weird time editing.
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
p.s., I have experimented a little with some fast forward editing for time purposes also, but it affects the audio in the video, hopefully I'll just get a little smoother with all that.

@@DiscerningMan Sorry to hear that. Hope you’re feeling better. I wanted to see the re-assembly because I plan on doing a blade swap. Was it hard to put back together? I’ve done other blade swaps with Civivi knives and I know they can be tricky during re-assembly.

Every knife I've owned that had aluminum scales (frame) without a steel liner has warped over time. There hasn't been that many, but... the FRN is a cheap replacement for G10. They went with a different blade shape from the Fiffius using D2 (k110) all around a disappointment. Good video, all though, I won't be buying one of these.
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
I mean, when you put it like that, it is on the high side (price) for a budget knife 😏
@MrBlessed70 Жыл бұрын
Great knife.I would have wanted 14C28N or Nitro V steel instead of this D2 variant!
@KnifeFanatic Жыл бұрын
Same... 14c28n, 154cm, or nitro v would have been nice... I'm not a fan of D2.🤢🤮

This knife is ridiculous to put back together. And if it wasn't for the famous civivi button stick I wouldn't have taken apart. I'm about to return the POS in pieces. Let them fool with it. And I've put many many knives together including button locks
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
sorry to hear this, I'll be happy to try to help if you can explain where your stuck, also the video has full disassembly in it.

@@DiscerningMan thanks man. I finally got it back together. I was struggling with the damn captive pivot won't stay in place when your trying to get the blade and button in and when I did get together the pivot would be turned wrong. Usually u can correct by turning the opposite screw pivot but it would not turn. Then the screw under the black handle wouldn't screw in all the way. I should have walked away and took a break. Hey I got rid of the button stick but unfortunately scratched the aluminum. Never had that much trouble. Lots of cursing 🤬 !! 😆
@DiscerningMan Жыл бұрын
@bamabladez sorry you went through that, but it's entertaining, im sure not for you man, but that's 😄 keep in mind, this is coming from someone who has been hung up more than a few times.
