Cj-7 Stuck In Gear

My brother and I were out trail riding. In shifting from first to reverse he accidentally hit fourth. The stick wobbled around like it was in neutral but we were stuck in fourth. I had to research for hours on how to fix this problem. I created this video so you wouldn't have to spend the time I had to.

Nice. God why did i buy a jeep???????? So what causes this? I don't drive mine much, down to the mail box and back, 1 mile. Going down it didn't want to shift into second ( did a burn out coming out of the driveway), soI just drove it in first. It would go into reverse but i promptly put it back into first and got the hell outta there. I did get it into second and stuffed the throttle to the floor, then shit went south. The shifter was wobbling around, not coming out of gear or going into another.. I'll have to pop the cap off and look at it. Oh, the POS wouldn't shut off, thaank God I was able to stall it.
